Tae Kwon Do Tae Kwon Do is the popular Korean martial art known for its dynamic kicking techniques. Kids learn skills and techniques in a safe, fun environment. Each student is looked at as a unique individual and as a member of a team. The skills taught are progressive with built-in incentives for students to achieve success and maximize potential.

Beginner students are introduced to a combination of kicking and punching techniques, self-defense and forms. The training also includes mental skills that improve memorization.

Intermediate to Advanced students are challenged with more complicated mental and physical skills, including advanced forms, self-defense techniques and the study of musculoskeletal systems and the history of martial arts.

Advanced students prepare for demonstrations and competitions, including advanced self-defense techniques, forms and weapons training (Bo Staff, Kamas and Nunchuks).

A uniform can be purchased from the instructor and is mandatory for testing purposes.

As part of our J Adventure After-School program, JCCNS Code Crew meets once a week to explore the exciting world of computer coding with Cohen Hillel general studies teacher and STEM coordinator extraordinaire, Lea Winkler. Lea says, Our students absolutely love learning how to program using Scratch, Lego robotics, Beebots, and Hour of Code! Each week, Leas Code Crew design animations, build and program robots, and design and play games using coding. One of Leas favorite things about Code Crew? My students are learning how to problem solve and take pride in their successes! says Winkler. Students are always eager to share what they've coded and to see what other members of the crew have created. Most importantly, a fun time is had by all!

    PERSONAL TRAINING SPOTLIGHT

Introducing: Hester Schepens, Phyllis Karas, Karen Madorsky and Katherine Redman.

These four FIT AND FABULOUS women have been training with Mary Pat Hawkins for four years!

The simultaneously wonderful and awful thing about Mary Pat is that she is a merciless coach and she forces us to use muscles we would much rather let stay dormant, says Phyllis Karas. In the hour they spend with Mary Pat each week, these women say they laugh far, far more than they groan. And, believe us, they say, we groan a lot. When we leave, we are all sweating and we are all tired but we actually feel great. We know for that one hour, we have really achieved something special with these mature bodies.
