SNPhA Regional Conference 2017 Regions III, IV, V

What better place to host the Student National Pharmaceutical Association (SNPhA) 2017 Region III, IV, V Regional Conference than in the city of Sacramento. California Northstate University College of Pharmacy seeks the opportunity to host the Regional Conference with the confidence that the expectations of each SNPhA member will be exceeded, and to create lasting memories together at the 2017 Region III, IV, V Conference. CNUCOP, although a relatively new chapter, strives to push its students to break the boundaries of professionalism and integrity. The university takes pride in being one of the few institutions to deliver its curriculum through Team-Based-Learning, which puts its students a step ahead in the communication-dependent world of multidisciplinary practices. This city is ground zero for museums, theatres and art exhibitions. The Crocker Art Museum is “the longest continuously operating art museum in the West.” Old Sacramento itself is a city filled with history, as it is recognized as a historic landmark, and attracts all those who want to take a journey back in time. Within this historic region, an infusion of upscale popular restaurants, nightclubs, and breweries energize the nightlife in and around Sacramento. If given the opportunity to extend our hospitality, we will strive to provide a unique experience that only comes naturally from our family-like chapter. We believe our institution is ready to take on the challenge, and accept the full gravity of responsibilities that come with hosting a conference. This letter is being sent to you in support of our student chapter's proposed plan to host the 2015 regionalmeeting in the Sacramento, California vicinity. The University and College of Pharmacy are delighted to helpplan, organize, and provide funding to ensure our student chapter provides an outstanding meeting venue andset up for all SNPhA members in attendance. We have had the pleasure and gained valuable experience withhelping some of our other student organization with large events including the Phi Delta Chi regional meetingthis past January and the CAPSLEAD Conference which involved 8 pharmacy schools in 2010.

The SNPhA student chapter at California Northstate University College of Pharmacy (CNUCOP) has been anactive chapter since it was formed in 2009. Since the chapter's inception in 2009, we have had the pleasure ofhaving two CNUCOP students be nominated for national office and both successfully were elected to theposition of National President of SNPhA. The CNUCOP alumnus & student elected as SNPhA President are someof brightest CNUCOP student leaders - Dr. Pejman Ahmadi (Class of 2013) and Gevorg Martirosyan (Class of2077). Dr. Pejman Ahmadi maintains close ties to SNPhA and from what I understand will also help lead theregional conference effort in his own back yard of Sacramento, California.

Box 761388 San Antonio, TX 78245 Dear Dr. Coleman and the selection committee: It is with great pleasure that I write this letter of support on behalf of the Student National Pharmaceutical Association, California Northstate University College of Pharmacy Chapter. We are seeking the opportunity to be the hosting chapter for the 2017 Region III, IV, and V SNPhA National Conference to be held March 10-12, 2017 here in the Capitol City of Sacramento, CA. I have been the faculty advisor for CNU-SNPhA since September 2015. Even though it has been a short journal thus far, it is easy to tell that we have a team of motivated, ambitious, and caring students who want to take our SNPhA chapter to new heights. The students had many accomplishments in 2015. Our very own Gevorg Martirosyan became the National President-Elect for 2015-2016. Christina Zhang became the Region V Facilitator. Also in 2015, Melissa Hoffman and Joseph Prioriello took second place in the National Kroger Patient Counseling and Clinical Skills Competition (Division I). In 2014, CNU-SNPhA won the overall Chapter of the Year award and was the National Champions in the Kroger Patient Counseling Competition. Many of our students have also been the recipient of many NPhA scholarships and awards. This kind of dedication to the student organization can also be seen on a day to day basis at the College, where our student officers act independently and productively to hold various community outreach event and on-campus activities. This requires excellent time management skills to balance a heavy academic load as well as running one of the largest student organizations. The students have some autonomy in their execution of Chapter duties and activities, and I am quite impressed with the level of independence at which this team of student leaders operate. Should we have to opportunity to host the 2017 Regional Conference here at Sacramento, I have full confidence in our chapter leaders to make this Conference a success. We also have the support of Dr. Pejman Ahmadi, National Executive Consultant for this Regional Conference. CNU-SNPhA has always strived to involve the community, practicing pharmacists, faculty, and student pharmacists. Hosting this conference will give us the opportunity to display our hospitality, community service, professionalism, and to showcase out beautiful city. Sacramento has a rich history being the capitol of California, with a vibrant downtown, historic landmarks, and charming scenery just outside of the city limits. Being the host of the 2017 Regional Conference will give our student leaders an amazing opportunity to grow, give our University and Chapter an opportunity to showcase our talents, and bring other members of SNPhA to experience California. This will be a great opportunity for pharmacists and pharmacy students alike to network, participate in continuing education seminars, and will also give every student a chance to learn more about residencies in California through the Residency Exhibition that is planned.
