Meat Fare Sunday-The Final Judgment
The commemoration of the 2nd coming
of Christ and the Final Judgment is taken
from St. Matthew 25; 31-46, in which
Christ speaks of what will happen when
He returns in glory. At His coming He
will sit on the throne of His glory, and all
the holy angels with Him (31), and all of
the nations will be gathered before Him.
He will separate them "as a shepherd
divides his sheep from the goats" (32).
The sheep will be placed on His right
hand, and the goats on the left.
To the sheep He will say; "Come, you
blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for
you from the foundation of the world." (33-34) this
kingdom is offered to the sheep because of their
compassion and service to those in need. "…for I was
hungry and you gave me food: I was thirsty and you
gave me drink; I was a stranger and you took me in;
naked and you clothed me, I was sick, and you visited
me, I was in prison, and you came to see me." The
sheep, who are the righteous chosen for the kingdom will
ask how this is so, and Jesus will answer them saying;
"Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to the
least of my brethren, you did it to me." (35-40)

відповідальність, яка чекає на кожного з (cont. on pg. 3) (prod. na stor. 3)

say;"Depart from me, you cursed, into the everlasting
fire prepared for the devil and his angels." (41) He will
condemn them for because they did not feed Him when he
was hungry, give Him drink when He was thirsty, take Him
in when He was a stranger, clothe Him when He was naked,
visit Him when He was sick or in prison. The goats will
ask how this is so, and Jesus will answer them saying;
"Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to the
least of my brethren, you did it to me." (42-45) Jesus
concludes His words on the Last Judgment by stating that
those on the left will go "into everlasting punishment, but
the righteous into eternal life." (46)
When Christ comes to judge us, we will be judged by
love and our lack of love. This is not just a humanitarian
concern but a concrete and personal love for the human
person, the specific persons that we encounter each day in
our lives. Christian love is the impossible, to see Christ
in every person we encounter. We can't save the world
ourselves, nor are we all called to work for humanity, yet
each one of us has received the grace and the gift of
Christ's love. Christian love is the possible impossibility of
seeing Christ in another person, whom God in His eternal
and mysterious plan has decided to introduce into our
life, be it for a brief moment, or an act of kindness or
encountering their uniqueness. Perhaps this encounter will
change us or the person we meet. We are responsible for the
gift of love that Christ has given us, and we will be judged
on whether we have loved or refused to love.

Welcome to Tuesday Night Faith Formation Sessions!
Tuesday's 7:00 pm in the St. Josaphat Classroom
Introducing a new 8-week Study Program for all our
Ukrainian Catholic parishes in Metro area called Oremus: A
Guide to Catholic Prayer
Do you find it easy to pray? Is prayer an integral part of your
day? Do you hear God’s voice in your daily life, and know
how to respond accordingly?
For many of us, the answer to these questions is, “no.” We
all desire an intimate relationship with God. But, since
learning to “say our prayers” as children, we never moved
beyond rote recitation to an authentic conversation with God.
The Oremus study program teaches you the essentials of an
effective and fruitful prayer life. Over the course of eight
weeks you will discover how God speaks to you, even in the
smallest encounters. Following the Tradition of the Catholic
Church and the wisdom of the saints, you will learn how to
express yourself to God in prayer, and how to hear his voice.
Join us even if you missed a session:
February 21 — Week 4: Relational Prayer
February 28 — Week 5: Spiritual Senses
March 7 — Week 6: Discernment in Prayer
March 14 — Week 7: Dealing with Distractions
March 21 — Week 8: Desolation and Consolation
