Summer Fete

We were blessed with amazing weather for our Summer Fete and thank you to everyone who attended. Especially

popular was ‘Foods from around the World’ and there were some lovely treats from Poland, Romania, Pakistan

and Syria plus good old fashioned English scones! Many thanks to the children who danced for us and to all the

stall holders and helpers. Together you raised £2662.96, including Mrs Debus’ wonderful raffle.

British Legion

We were really proud recently to be approached by the Banbury Royal British Legion to write a message to go on the wreath that will be laid at the Great Pilgrimage 90 WW1 Commemorations in Belgium this August. Year 5 will have the honour of doing this and we were chosen because our school regularly raises the most Poppy Funds in the Banbury area (£459.38 in November 2017).

Park Afternoon

Our children enjoyed their visit to the park as a reward for doing all their homework over the first three weeks of term. It’s not too late to go as there will be another reward in the next few weeks! Well done in particular to all our reading certificate winners this term.

Early Years Sports Day

Nursery and Reception had a fantastic Sports Day. Typically English, it was a bit cool in the morning and roasting hot in the afternoon. Many of the children had their face painted and it was a lovely atmosphere. Thank you so much to all the mums, dads and relatives for supporting us!

Click Anti-Bullying play

Next Friday we host Click, an Anti-Bullying play produced by Oxfordshire County Council. The play will demonstrate the effects that just

one ‘click’ can have on lives, either via a telephone or computer. Once again can I remind parents that children at this school are too

immature to utilise messaging apps appropriately and that WhatsApp recently raised their age limit to 16 to reflect this. The onus is on

parents to be aware of what their children are doing on their phones.

Best wishes,

Neil Blackwell

Dates for your diary

Yesterday we hosted a visit from 20 excited Chinese children who were

visiting England on an Exchange. It was a very lively day and lots of new

friendships were made. Their teacher told me that they had been made very

welcome and the children have asked if they can come back again! Our Year

5s waved them off in their coach.

This summer’s Library Reading Challenge is called Mischief Makers and celebrates the 80th birthday of the Beano. Get to know Dennis the Menace and Roger the Dodger! As always there will be stickers and certificates to collect and we like to reward children who take part at school too. Please visit Banbury Library over the summer holidays to take part.

Summer Reading Challenge

Next Thursday Year 6 are hosting their Fiver Challenge market after school. The winners will be the group who make the most profit from their initial investment, and the profits will be pooled to pay for the Year 6 Dinner Dance in the last week of term. Please come along and support them!
