music from BYX-OU A Capella group, short films from OU student filmmakers, a short from

deadCENTER Film Festival titled The Assignment (27 min.) and a gallery game called PICTO that uses student drawings to help patrons discover

work in the gallery.

WHAT: Reception for the work of Stephen SmithWHERE: The Performing Arts Studio, 200 S. Jones

WHEN: 6 to 9 p.m.ABOUT: The work of Impressionist painter Stephen Smith is going up in the

Depot Gallery. The evening will feature live music from pianist Dennis Borycki and light refreshments. Smith — an Oklahoma native — has been painting landscapes,

cityscapes, florals and still lifes full-time for more than two decades.

friendship and artistic growth. Kellen Carter and Travis Brassfield are excited and eager to share their work with the local art community from their hometown.

WHEN: 6:30 - 7:30 p.m.ABOUT: Cortest, a professor of Spanish and the Director of the Center for Me-dieval and Renaissance Studies at OU, will speak on El Camino de Santiago (the Way of St. James pilgrimage) and its connection to Medieval Spanish literature.

WHAT: Opening Reception for Urban WastelandWHERE: Sonder Music, Dance & Art, 225 E. Gray

WHEN: 7:30 to 10 p.m.ABOUT: Photographer Marty Landers has

photographed abandoned spaces for the past six years. Documenting the past and giving a glimpse into the result

of the throwaway age, Landers purposefully seeks out these undesired locations and gives each space a chance to tell its raw

and unfiltered story.

WHAT: Massive Downtown Grand OpeningWHERE: Massive Downtown, 301 W. MainWHEN: 6 to 10 p.m.ABOUT: The brainchild of Massive Graphics printing company, the brand new Massive Downtown space contains a clothing and accessory boutique, disc golf supplies and a hair salon. Massive Downtown will be displaying the work of local digital and analog artist Anthony Roberts, and plans on hosting a new local artist each month.
