Counting in EYFS

This week we are furthering our counting skills. Talk

to your child about numbers in the environment

when you see them; on road signs, on front doors, in

shop windows. Play games such as snakes and

ladders, lotto, cards, and dominoes

which require counting and number

recognition. Use natural things such as

pinecones and leaves to count.

Nursery please pay snack money for new term.

Please log on to Parent Pay. You can find all information on the school website.

Please make sure this is paid up ready to start the term.

We would like to remind you all to please read these newsletters each week as they do have information on that involve your children's learning and also give

you plenty of helpful tips and go to places for information.

Theories of learning and development agree with these perspectives from brain research. Learning is both

individual and social. Young children are not passive learners – they enjoy participating in ‘hands on’ and

‘brains-on’ activities. They actively drive their own learning and development, by the choices they make, the

interests they develop, the questions they ask, the knowledge they seek, and their motivation to act more

competently. Children’s choices and interests are the driving force for building knowledge, skills and

understanding: by working and playing with other people, they are constantly learning about themselves and

their social and cultural worlds. Children build positive identities through collaborative, caring relationships

with other people, by managing and taking risks, ‘having a go’, experiencing success, developing resilience,

and developing ‘mastery’ or ‘can-do’ attitudes. High-quality provision helps children to develop positive

dispositions which

lay the

foundations for

becoming lifelong

successful

learners.
