The 1st session began at 2.00 pm by Dr. Balachandran K by welcoming all students of 3rd, 5th
7th semester UG and 3rd semester PG students for the academic year 2019 – 20. He quoted the
vision and the mission of the CHRIST (Deemed to be University) and how the journey of the
university began since 1969. Followed was the vision and mission of the CSE department and
the ways how to achieve it with respect to elective courses, proof of concepts, the certificate
courses and the service learning programmes.
Then he focused on the current trends and domain in CSE/IT where the students can do
projects, research, and internships and so on. The major focus areas that were discussed are
data Analytics, Internet of Things, Computational Intelligence, Artificial Intelligence and
Automation Process.
Following points were discussed and deliberated in detail:
1. Vision and Mission statements of both University and the Department.
2. Introduction of new MTech Programme in Data Analytics.
3. Student and Faculty strength and faculty members various research expertise.
4. Department student association (ASCII) for student activities.
5. Events conducted in the last academic year on various emerging technologies.
6. Academic Calendar for 2019-20.

The 2nd session began at 3:00 pm. The Head of the Department, Dr. K Balachandran briefed
about the importance of NBA (National Board of Accreditation) process.

SESSION 1:

Likewise it is the 2nd day of the 3rd semester, 2019. The first thing in the day was the much
motivational presentation by the CS faculties. The first presentation was on the Internet of
Things by Professor Bijeesh T.V. It was an excellent presentation on the very emerging
technology which refers how the things in our daily lives communicate with each other. The
next presentations were on Machine learning and data sciences, Network security and Web
Development by Dr.Manohar M, Professor Pradeep Kumar K and Professor Karthikeyan H
respectively. The term Big Data was introduced. It is a field that treats ways to analyse,
systematically extract information from, or otherwise deal with data sets that are too large or
complex to be dealt with by traditional data processing application software. Network
security consists of the policies and practices adopted to prevent and monitor unauthorized
access, misuse, modification, or denial of computer network and network accessible
resources.
SESSION 2:
Time: 10:00AM – 1:00 AM
After the very motivating tech talk or the presentations by the faculties there was a feedback
session held by the CS department to know their student’s potential. It was conducted by the
respective class teachers of the respective sections of 3rdsem. There was one student
information form and the other was basic of CSE feedback form.
After the feedback and data entry session there was a small talk on the research and
placement activities. Overall the 2nd day was a very motivating one which will surely help the
students to thrive towards the excellence.

SESSION 1
Team formation
A team of random people made by doing a headcountto form team and perform the given task
− The team members are required to introduce themselves to the other team members
as this will help to remove the nervousness faced by people when called upon the
dice.
− One member from the group is selected and asked to introduce all the members
present in his/her team. This is a good way of introducing each other in a simple
manner.
Session outcome-This activity inculcate sense of team building and removing stage fear.
SESSION 2
Logo love Icebreaker
- Each team asked to prepare a logo and tag line of their teams.Icebreaker activity in
which participants introduce each other so that others see what strengths they have.
- One member from each team was asked to present the logo and the idea behind the
logo. This indoctrinates team spirit in each individual.
Session outcome-This activity gives a sense of healthy competition and team spirit to its
fullest.

Campus groupfie
- Each team were supposed to take minimum of 10groupfie at 10 different locations
within the campus{NOTE: Each groupfie should contain all the members of the
group}
- At the end each should prepare a collage and present it in the afternoon session.

SESSION 4
GUEST TALK
There was a guest talk given by Dr.Fr.Paul on a very interesting topic “INDUSTRY 4.0 and
GIG ECONOMY” from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
-Industry 4.0 is a name given to the current trend of automation and data exchange
in manufacturing technologies
-It includes cyber-physical systems, internet of things, cloud computing and cognitive
computing.
-Industry 4.0 is commonly referred to as the fourth industry revolution.
Session outcome
It was a very informative session. We learned many things like the impact of industry 4.0 and
GIG economy.

POSTER PRESENTATION
-We gave poster presentation on topics like “CYBER SECURITY AND
ENGINEERING SOCIETY”.
-We even prepared logos on the topics and explained about the topics to the audience.

-We learnt about the importance of teamwork and taking up initiative in coming up
with new ideas.

5th semester Orientation for Day 2 and Day 3
Day -2: 4th June
Time: 9:00 to 4:00
Day 2 of the program is started with filling our Academic information in the system which is
given in kp from 9:00 to 10:00.Followed by 3tr block auditorium Dr Balachandran
introduction about the department and different avenues available in department. In
Auditorium the program is based on the important fields which is required for CS and IT
department. Faculties explained about the importance of ML\DL, Bigdata, IOT, etc... Then at
11:30am Professor Vinai George explained about the International course/semester exchange
program and International internship training where we can have experience of studying in
abroad.

After Lunch Break, at 2pm there was a program based on understanding what is a team which
was conducted by seven cells where we had divided the group of 20 where in each group
should 10 members including a faculty. We had task like give our group name with a logo
then innovative idea which doesn’t exist, jingles then 10 tongue twisters. Based on those task
the judge declared the best team and from that the guest tried to say what a team is.

Day-3 : 6th June
Time : 9:00 to 4:00
The 3rd day of orientation for the academic year 2019-2020 was a well verse in all aspects. It
was the first time that the university conducted an orientation for all the semesters. It all
started with class teacher’s introduction and a few other faculties. Later on, we were all
divided in groups and everyone has to introduce any one member apart from his group. So,
this activity turned to be very fun and yes we get to know about our friends and also whether
they know us well or not.
Later on, each group was given a topic “Ethics in friendship” and each group has to go and
click photos depicting a story. After that a formal presentation was done by each group using
collages and presentations showcasing the whole session. That was a really enjoyable session
where students all around the campus were clicking photographs for the activity.
The following final pictures of college for the events is handpicked for the theme as “Ethics
in Friendship”.

The 2nd session was a guest talk on the upcoming topic “INDUSTRY 4.0”. Where he
explained about the upcoming industry revolution that is the 4th evolution in terms of
development. He also explained about the recently hyped topics like ML, AI, Robotics and a
few others.
That’s how we wrapped up 3rd and the last most day of orientation. It was overall and
commendable job done by the faculties and staff. And events like this must happen regularly
so that we can interact with teachers and get to know them.

7th semester Day 2 and Day3 Orientation Report
Day 2: 4th June 2019
Session 1: Placement Activities by 7th sense pvt ltd 9.00 am to 1.00 pm
SESSION 1:
She is giving introduction about company. This company is giving placement training
and soft skill training.
Some students give introduction about their profile. They planned to give training on
body language and presentation.
Topic on Team building
Students Answer – It is like a create relation with team members, Communication of
team members. Internship and project is an example of team building, students sharing
experience of project team and internship team. How you are working with your team
members during internship. Before taking decision discuss with team members and take the
collective decision. How do you work on team?. Skill set, compatibility. How to build the
team? – Person is compatible then you build team.
Leader in the team is most important. They asked to 15 student come forward taking
team leader. Student leader should convince the student to create their own team. Condition is
each team minimum 10 members. So, leaders went different section and build their team
members. Students convince the faculty and added in their team. Each faculty should part of
one student team.
People in the team is most important, convince and choosing the faculty is really
difficult. Students to create team logo and team name. Each team to propose 5 unique idea.
Students actively participating the team event. Trainer gives eight different tasks. Now ask to
give presentation for that task. Time limit is important is giving higher mark. Best name of
the team is getting 50 marks. Team leader is not part of that class is getting 200 Marks.
Student present their team name (Team Name: 6 Sense, Alpha Q, Reat, K-ink, 3X3, Brain
stompers, Logom, Day 1)
Designing the logo – Students present their logo and show it on trainer. Next task is to
present their team name with different modulation. To create unique slogan for that team
name.

Student gives domo on tongue twisters event. Songs
and lyrics are also used in this event. Trainer gives feedback on previous experience of Christ
students. Presentation skill, how to impress the audience. The way of presentation is
important; content is secondary part of presentation. Common sense and body language is
plays vital role in presentation. Being smart in presentation. How to handle the situation? and
how to manage different level of people?. Eye contact – look into the entire audience.
Attention of the entire audience is control in this eye contact. Don’t look down in the person.
I can’t face any one, look in their eye and give presentation. Looking down is under
confidence. Looking up is shows you are in confidence. Give change to ask question, this is
one of the important in presenter.

Speaker: Dr Xavier C
The session began by Dr Xavier C, Professor, Dept of CSE by explaining overview of how
Industry does the job listing, type of jobs available in market, skills to equip by the students,
career path curve in various type of job profiles, importance of infrastructure based jobs.
Dr Xavier main focus towards industry coding standards, Industry projects, industry product
delivery mode, also he gave brief insight on product based companies and career growth in
that company.
