is a Victorian masterpiece. With the perfect blend of understated timeless style and convenient open living spaces, this home meets every must have on a discerning buyer’s wish list. The first, and most note worthy, attribute of the home is its perfect location. Only steps to Emerson field, Alcott Elementary, CCHS, Main Street shops, and the commuter rail, this home offers every convenience at your fingertips, all within walking distance. This property exemplifies a “green” style of living. Secondly, its traditional Victorian style is epitomized by the details found within the home which include classic moldings, wainscoting, vintage pantry, crown moldings, and a front to back stair case. This home is quintessential New England through and through and has been renovated thoughtfully.

While a classic at heart, it offers an updated floor plan that blends seamlessly with the formal spaces. The rear of the home is bright and open with an expansive kitchen, dining, and family room that makes up the floor plan we all desire. In addition the family area gives way to a charming covered porch, big enough for patio furniture and a chaise to enjoy the warmer months. The porch overlooks a private flat and fenced-in yard, a rare commodity given its prime in-town location. Sited on the corner of Thoreau

Street, the two car garage is easily accessed from Walden Terrace, a cul-de-sac location which is rare in Concord center. Above the two car garage is a bonus apartment perfect for in-laws, an au-pair, and even income potential.

Everyday access can be had through the thoughtfully designed mud room with slate floor and built-ins. This is a perfect transition between the informal side entrance, or garage, and the rest of the family space. The gourmet kitchen delivers top end appliances, honed soapstone counter tops, center island prep area, and desk space. The open eat-in dining-family room has classic touches including hardwood floors, beamed ceiling, transom windows, and built-in bookcases.

“Imagine being in the heart of it all,

while feeling like you are miles away

in your ownprivate retreat.”

Beyond the open, family living space, as one moves toward the formal center of the home, we find the rooms that define a traditional Victorian. The formal dining room’s understated luxury provides a warm and inviting feeling to all who enter. The enormous bay window bathes the room in sunlight throughout the day. The space offers room for all of your dining furniture, and is enhanced by crown molding and wainscoting. Across the hall the formal living room has high ceilings, walls of windows, and a dental crown mantle around the brick fireplace. The living room, while formal in its original intention, is an alluring and peaceful everyday room for all to enjoy.

The front to back staircase connects the lower public spaces to the second floor bedrooms, laundry room, full family bath, master suite, and staircase to the third floor. A true master suite at the end of the hall is a step back in time. With soaring vaulted ceilings, views of the private back yard, walk-in closet, and large master bath, this in-home getaway is the crown jewel of this masterful property. The lavish master bath offers a double vanity with white marble counter, classic Victorian claw-footed tub, and beadboard detail. The third floor is a perfect bonus or play room, bedroom suite, perfect for an au-pair or teenage retreat. The third floor also offers ample seasonal storage, a cedar closet, and a full bath.

With over 4,200 square feet of living space, a guest apartment, classic finishes, triple prime location, and a large fenced-in yard, 314 Thoreau Street will be on the top of your must have list this spring.

Honed soapstone counters, high end appliances, t h i s g o u r m e t kitchen has it all.

“Stylish, updated, refined… perfect.

This home has the charm and character

of a classicVictorian home.”

Concord, signifying agreement and harmony, was incorporated as the first inland settlement in Massachusetts through a grant from the Massachusetts General Court dated September 12, 1635. As the scene of the first battle of the American Revolutionary War (War for Independence) on April 19, 1775, it is considered the birthplace of the nation, where the “shot heard ‘round the world” for liberty and self government was fired.

During the middle of the 19th century, Concord was home to some of the greatest literary and transcendental minds in America. Authors Henry David Thoreau, Ralph Waldo Emerson, Bronson and Louisa Alcott, and Nathaniel Hawthorne all lived, worked and wrote in Concord, and signs of their presence in the community remain to this day through the abundance of historic and cultural resources offered. Within walking distance of Concord Center are The Concord Museum, Orchard House, the Old Manse, the Old North Bridge, Minuteman National Historic Park, Emerson House, and Sleepy Hollow Cemetery. Walden Pond, which served as the inspiration for Thoreau’s Walden in 1854, is nearby and offers a variety of recreational opportunities and hiking trails. The Concord Free Public Library, Concord Art Association, Emerson Umbrella studios for visual and performing arts, and the Performing Arts Center (which is home to the Concord Orchestra, the Concord Band, and the Concord Players) are all in the downtown area.

Located 20 miles west of Boston, Concord’s population has remained stable at 16,000 over the past several decades. It is a picturesque New England community of handsome residences, preserved open spaces, family-owned farms and thriving commercial centers. The town is served by MBTA commuter rail to Boston, Cambridge and Fitchburg; and a commuter bus to Boston. State highway Route 2 runs through Concord, and Routes 128/95 and 495 are conveniently accessed.
