COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT

The Inspectors performed 38 inspections this week.

The Permit Center received 19 applications and issued 18 permits.

Staff processed 7 business license applications.

The Permit Center Lead facilitated to pre-application meetings, attended the MBA Pierce County Housing Forum, worked with Opera-tions regarding the cross connections program and prepared and distributed the March 2017 Permit Activity Reports.

PUBLIC WORKS OPERATIONS

Closed the right turn lane on SR 410 at 211th Ave. Extended the 12” culvert going under 211th Ave 46’. Backfilled new culvert, shaped the outfall, excavated swale to grade, armored the outfall and seeded the site. This will greatly improve the flow of the storm water coming off of SR 410 and reduce the amount of storm water flowing down 211 th Ave. (see photo)

Installed new receipt printer in Kiosk at boat launch and re-graded the boat launch parking area.

Exercised generators under load at all sewer stations.

Updated for 11 regulatory, 2 warning, 1 information and 10 street identifications sign posts from wood to telespar. Attached 2 Adopt A Street placards to existing signs for newly adopted streets.

Picked up tree seedlings for Fennel creek reforestation projects

Confirmed Fennel Creek Arbor Day project with Cub Scouts coordinator

Flushed new water main in Sky Island Division 6, adjusted pressure reducing valve (PRV) station, and placed the new main into service.

Exercised valves at each of the lake crossings.

Joe Lovett completed the third day of a three day course in Utility Management

Worked with contractor on new panel install at lift station #16 and #15.

Investigating runoff at the Bonney Lake HS traffic signal

Pierce County GIS delivered and demoed our new iPad stormwater catch basin assessment app. Reviewing the app and providing feedback for changes.

Received the latest spreadsheet of stormwater catch basin inspections from Pierce Conservation District. Adding this data to our stormwater assessment GIS database.

Received our new Trimble GPS equipment. Reviewing the shipment for completeness.

Adding our Filterra tree stormwater treatment facilities to our GIS database.

Adding the new Sky Island Division 6 Pressure Reducing Valve to GIS.

Completed the Leak Detection Survey Overview map. Survey is 73% complete. Creating Leak Detection Survey maps 8 and 9.

Reviewed our new Zoning GIS data.

Providing SR410/Veterans Memorial Blvd Intersection Improvement digital as-built CAD data to Greater Bonney Lake Veterans Memorial architect Bruce Dees.

INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT

186th Corridor Improvement Project Update – contractor was given substantial completion.

SR 410-204th Intersection Improvements – city staff set up a design team walk thru to ensure all items being ad-dressed in final plans.

Flume Trestle Design – design team has submitted a memo to weigh out three options for city staff to review.

204th Plans – design team has submitted a stormwater alteration for review to address gravity sewer concerns on eastern lots. Staff has submitted review comments.

SCADA Phase 3 – the contractor is working one of the last three sewer lift station sites.

Bonney Lake Estates Phase 3 – project seeking final city approval.

Completed SR410/211th culvert extension and swale improvements

Wellness Committee members are setting up a Community Garden Plot for city staff to share. Any staff or Coun-cilmembers interested in helping maintain a plot should contact Susan Haigh or Nate Schildmeyer!

The City Clerk’s office received and closed 4 public disclosure requests (total of 5 files/10 MB were provided).

The City phone system was down for several hours on Thursday afternoon; the HR Manager notified Cerium and then CenturyLink, who resolved the issue by the end of the work day.

Tyler cashiering stopped working. City and Eden tried many short term fixes without success.

Social Media: Facebook: 3,827 followers / 3,869 ‘likes’ (33% increase from 2016). Each Facebook post reaches be-tween 2,000 and 10,000 viewers, depending on the number of shares and reposts. Twitter: @BLPoliceDept - 5,353 followers (34% increase); @CityBonneyLake - 1,131 followers (42% increase). Website traffic 23,235 unique visitors per month (75% increase from 2014) and average of 100,999 pages viewed per month so far in 2017.

Inside Out—April 15, 2017

Injury Collision – Officers responded to a blocking rollover accident E/B SR 410 near Meyers Road. The driver, who was intoxicated and injured, was later arrested for DUI and a collision report was taken.

Arrest – Famous Footwear reported a male had stolen a pair of shoes. Officers located the male by Key Bank, and rec-ognized him from prior contacts. The suspect began running from the area. He was located nearby and was taken into custody. The subject admitted to the theft, and was found to be in possession of a ballistic vest and a portable radio.

Suspicious persons – Safeway reported that two subjects were passed out in a car. Officers arrived, and woke them up. The male and female were both found to have warrants for their arrest. After placing the female into custody, she indicated there were drugs in her bra. Drugs were located and the female was booked into the Pierce County Jail on narcotic related charges.

DUI MVA- A Sergeant responded to a one car collision in the Target parking lot. The driver fled the scene after collid-ing with a tree. The suspect vehicle was located leaving the area with front end damage. The suspect vehicle was stopped at the Wal-Mart. The driver was found to be DUI (Drugs) and was arrested. A DRE responded and did an eval-uation. A blood warrant was obtained and a blood draw collected as evidence. The driver was released pending the blood test results.

POSSIBLE NARCOTICS ACTIVITY/WARRANT ARREST - Officers responded to the Jack in the Box on the report of a couple of car loads of subjects involved in possible narcotics activity. One of the vehicles was located and contacted. A subject with the vehicle lied about his name and was later identified. He was found to have a confirmed felony warrant for Escape Community Custody out of DOC. He also had a set of brass knuckles in his possession. Sev-eral other subjects were identified and released. The subject was booked into Score Jail on his warrant.

STOLEN RECOVERY---While responding to Target for the shoplift call, an officer located a Honda Accord parked in the parking lot missing a rear license plate. A switched license plate was on the front of the vehicle and a VIN check revealed that the Honda had been reported stolen out of Renton. The Auto Theft Task Force Detective was notified and requested the vehicle be impounded to Auburn Valley Towing for fingerprint processing.

Commercial Burglary – Lowes Hardware had an unknown suspect(s) throw two medium size rocks through the glass slider leading to the lumber department. Possible item taken was a $400 dollar Dewalt power tool. Under investigation.
