Welcome to the new course guide for 2012. This guide contains all the courses and information for both terms 1 and 2 – and we have lots of new courses to kick start your new year!

Due to popular demand we have added some more social media courses for the new terms. Whether you are an absolute beginner or a social media pro, there is a course to suit your level of knowledge.

Take a look at some of our other new courses. Why not spend a day with a friend at the cheese making workshop, or relax at the beach and learn how to fish, or be creative in Nola Littlejohn’s Anima Mixed Media drawing class?

We still have all the popular leisure courses such as golf, tennis, painting with watercolours, French, German and Spanish. Brush up on your IT skills by joining a Word or Excel course, or improve your bookkeeping skills in the MYOB or QuickBooks courses.

Traineeships are a focal point for us this year. If you are currently employed or are an employer with staff requiring training, there are some generous government incentives to help with training staff on the job.

Meet Sirjana Pant Ojha, a qualified high school teacher from Nepal, experienced in working with youth. Sirjana has

progressed from introductory level English communication classes to workplace communication studies in the Certificate I in General Education for Adults.

“ACE teachers are very friendly, helpful and their teaching styles are very good. My communication skills are improving and this is helping me to achieve my goals to work in community services in Lismore.” Sirjana Pant Ojha

General Education and study skills teacher Cassie describes the ACE learning environment as intimate, “in the sense that we can take each student’s personality, their culture and learning styles into consideration when preparing a programme with them. Students come to ACE as a safe and friendly place where they can gain support to achieve their individual goals.”

Student feedback reflects the strong rapport that develops between tutors and students and the collaborative learning atmosphere fostered in General Education:

“My maths studies have helped me to concentrate better and regular attendance has helped me to focus. English has helped me to be more organised and to attempt something even though I think I can’t do it (at first). The course has opened up opportunities for me. Now I have got a part-time job.”

Jane Hogan, graduate student, Certificate I General Education and continuing student in Certificate II

“At ACE, I have enjoyed meeting new people, getting to know the teachers. Teachers have confidence in students.”
