Company Background Dr. Homer Stryker was a resident
in orthopedic surgery at the University of Michigan in the late 1930s. He found that some of the medical supplies were not meeting the needs of his patient so began creating some of his own products. The new medical supplies were a hit and Stryker Corporation was founded in 1946 in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
