Strength & Conditioning
If you are injured prior to a strength and conditioning workout: please come to the athletic training room to be evaluated prior to your scheduled session.
If modifications to your workout are needed: the athletic training staff will communicate this to the S&C staff.
In the case that you should not attend a strength and conditioning workout at all due to injury: An athletic trainer will make both you and the S&C coach aware of this.
Concussions
Common signs and symptoms of a head injury Headache, Dizziness, Nausea, Confusion, Personality
changes, Feeling like you’re “in a fog”, Vomiting, Sensitivity to light and noise, Loss of consciousness and more…
AU Concussion Policy You must understand that reporting a concussion is
mandatory (per the signed form in your medical packet)
All concussions require physician’s clearance prior to return to full activity.
It is extremely important to report all head injuries to the Athletic Training staff immediately.
Heat Illness
Acclimatization to heat takes approximately 2 weeks. Athletes with a history of heat-related illnesses are at
a higher risk for recurrent issues. If you’re not feeling well – tell the Athletic Trainer
Excessive sweating, lightheadedness, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, confusion/disorientation, lack of sweating, & more
To stay healthy you must stay hydrated 2 – 3 hours before exercise: 17-20oz 10 – 20 minutes before exercise: 7-10oz Roughly every 10 – 20 minutes during exercise: 7-10oz
Easy ways to estimate your level of hydration Be mindful of your urine color and weight loss
Nutrition
To help optimize performance and avoid injury you MUST fuel your body.
No skipping meals A 150 lb. soccer athlete can burn up to 2,000+ calories per day
during preseason double sessions just from exercise. Make good choices
Choose the food with higher nutritional value (ex. grilled vs. fried) Healthy snacks
Snacks between meals and practices can help you maintain your energy

Recommendation to student-athletes: figure out your sickle cell trait status versus executing the waiver. You may very well have had the test before. Knowing is valuable to yourself and our staff.
NCAA Eligibility
Ineligible when drop below 12 credits (add before you drop)
10 full-time semesters to play four seasons
Use a season if on the roster after the first date of competition
Medical hardship waivers – first half of the traditional season & less than 1/3 of max contests allowed
Must complete all required steps before you are permitted to practice or compete (athletic training, academic, sports information, and NCAA/Arcadia compliance clearances)

Academic Eligibility
Full-time status (12 credits, limited exceptions)
- Add before you drop!
Good academic standing (1.75 for FR & 2.00 for SO/JR/SR)
- Semester and cumulative grades matter
Satisfactory academic progress (major GPA, drops/withdrawals)
Appeals only granted in extreme cases – get the job done!
Not permitted to practice or compete while on probation
Hazing & Team-Building
Hazing is any act committed against someone becoming a member or maintaining membership in any organization that is humiliating, intimidating, or demeaning. In some cases, hazing endangers the health and safety of the person. Hazing includes active or passive participation in such acts and can occur even if the individual willingly participates in the activities. Hazing creates an environment in which dignity and respect are absent.
Hazing – humiliates, degrades, tears people down, creates division, promotes shame/secrecy
Team-building – builds positive/inclusive relationships, promotes respect/dignity, supports, empowers, creates “team” environment
Sports Wagering
Arcadia does not condone sports wagering
Wagering is considered giving up something for the chance to gain something
Not allowed to bet on anything that the NCAA sponsors, including March Madness & Fantasy Football, whether it is amateur or professional
Can’t bet on a sport even if you don’t play it
If there is no entry fee and no prizes, it is okay
Social Media Policy
Best Practices Obey all federal, state, and local laws; Respect copyright and fair use; Follow all social media site rules and terms of use; Adhere to policies/procedures set forth by the NCAA, MAC, and
Arcadia Athletics; Refrain from posting materials that will reflect negatively on you,
your teammates, the coaching staff, other student-athletes, the athletics department, and Arcadia;
Privatize profiles & consider turning off location settings; Think twice before posting content & proofread all posts; Avoid topics that may be considered objectionable or
inflammatory; and Avoid posting personal information (phone numbers, addresses,
birth dates, schedules, etc.) that can jeopardize your safety and result in either stalking or identify theft.
Social Media Policy
Ineffective Usage Posting offensive or inappropriate content; Commenting on or sharing objectionable posts, pictures, videos, and lyrics; Posting confidential, sensitive, or private information; Using profane language; Posting inappropriate comments, photos, or videos depicting team-related or
university-identifiable activities; Taunting or making unsportsmanlike comments about students, student-athletes,
coaches, spectators, and administrators at Arcadia University or other institutions; Posting content that is sexual in nature or that includes links to pornographic
material; Making derogatory, demeaning, harassing, or threatening comments directed at an
individual or entity; Posting content that violates NCAA, MAC, or Arcadia University rules or regulations; Promoting unacceptable, violent, or illegal activities; Posting content depicting the use of alcohol or drug-related activities; Failing to respect the privacy and rights of others; and Bullying.
Social Media Policy
Possible Penalties Failure to adhere to this policy & guidelines will result in a
mandatory meeting with your head coach and/or an athletics administrator. Individuals found to be in violation of team/department rules may face sanctions, including, but not limited to:
Mandatory education; Counseling; Suspension or removal from the team; Termination of athletics eligibility; Community service; Additional penalties imposed by the head coach or athletics
administrator; and Additional penalties imposed by the NCAA or MAC.

Discuss game/match travel conflicts with professor proactively
Commitment to academic success
Appropriate conduct (on and off campus in all aspects)

Regular meetings (mandatory attendance)

- Provide feedback and insight into key athletics department issues
- Promote a positive student-athlete image on campus
- Review proposed NCAA legislation
- Organize community service efforts
- Help foster school spirit

Listen and pay attention
Notify the Athletics Director if you are under 18 years old or if you are an international student
