ARRL Field Day OverviewARRL Field Day is not a fully adjudicated

contest, which explains much of its popularity.  It is a time where many aspects of Amateur Radio come together to highlight our club’s many roles. While some will treat it as a contest, most groups use the opportunity to practice their emergency response capabilities.  It is an excellent opportunity to demonstrate Amateur Radio to local elected community leaders, key individuals with the organizations that Amateur Radio might serve in an emergency, as well as the general public. For many clubs, ARRL Field Day is one of the highlights of their annual calendar.

Thanks to Stephanie Adamy’s great effort, the FD food was super. Many thanks to her.Jeremy (KF7IJZ ) set up a totally independent 15 meter station operating only on solar powerWe did two radio ARRL bulletins for pointsBoth days we had Cub Scouts working radiosWe had first-timers on HFWe had newly licensed hams set up the Got-to-Get on the air stationWe had a variety of antennas (most worked very well)We had 30 people attend, most worked a band stationAs with last year, the 20 meter station worked the leagueWe worked stations from Hawaii to Serbia, even Puerto RicoWe had several stations operating the entire 24 hoursWe had two CW stations bringing in contactsWe had a PSK station bringing digital callsWe had newspaper coverageWe had an educational table for the public, even the Alex police stopped byAnd, we had a great time doing RADIO.
