I want to be the first to welcome you back to
your high school home. High school years
are a uniquely intense and poignant time of
life. Those memories, for good or bad, stay
vivid decades later. I’m praying that your
time spent with old friends back in this place
will revive those memories of goodness, fun,
and friendship that still have the power to
enrich our lives. I’m also praying that if your
memories are painful, you will find healing
in your return. Many things have changed
over the years but the mountains that so
imprinted themselves on us still stand guard.
The frog still crouches nearby. Mount Ellis
still surveys the campus and the ski slopes of
the Bridger Mountains still beckon.
This weekend’s program is designed to give
you time with old friends, time for worship,
and time to learn about the ways Mt. Ellis is
still making a difference in the lives of kids
today. We are leaving the doors unlocked
around campus so you can wander to the
places your memories hold strongest. I hope
you’ll take the time to introduce yourself
to students and faculty. We love hearing
stories from the “good old days.” If there is
anything we can do to make your weekend
more enjoyable, please talk to Kevin Emmer-
son or myself. Have a great time.

sabbath Potluck lunch Please join us immediately following church for a potluck lunch in the gym. Mount Ellis will provide the entrée, vegetable and drink. You are invited to bring bread, salad or dessert and enjoy this great time to catch up with friends.
Jiyao’s concert Jiyao Li graduated from MEA last year, but has returned for one more year while he applies to music colleges here in the US. Saturday evening’s vespers will feature his talents and his testimony. Come be blessed by his music and story. CD’s will be available for purchase following vespers.
Alumni choir rehearsal Remember all the good times in Choir and Dynamics? Come relive the fun and be a part of the Alumni Choir. Rehearsal is Sabbath morning at 10am in the gymnasium. We’ll see you there!
benefit brunch The Senior Class invites you to Sunday brunch in the Allaway Dining Hall. While there is no charge for the breakfast, your donations will help fund their gift to the school: the new lockers located in the Administration Building. Darren Wilkins will be serving his famous crepes, and a variety of other delicious breakfast items will be on the menu. See you there
senior ProjectsThe Class of 2012 invites you to the Alumni Center to view the results of their senior projects. As a culmination of their learning, the faculty asked the seniors to dream up a project that would encompass the school’s mission statement: Discover, Develop and Serve. Students worked individually or in groups to propose and carry out a project that would serve their community in some way.
Student Aid ConcertSarah Ojeda is using her vocal talents to benefit our Student Aid fund this year for her senior project. Immediately following vespers she will sing a few songs and share stories of Student Aid through the years. If you feel impressed, we invite you to support this worthy cause.
5K Race for Autism Sunday at 9 am a group of seniors are hosting a 5K fun run to raise money for the DAN Foundation. Associated with the Autism Research Institute, they work to find natural treatments. The cost is $25 and you can pre-register in the Alumni center. Donations will also be accepted.

harold & Janelle dixon Music scholarshipWe are pleased to announce the establishment of a new scholarship, named after two much-loved, long-term faculty members at MEA. Intended to support excellence in music, the Harold & Janelle Dixon Music Scholarship aims to make attending MEA a reality for students with musical aptitude but limited resources. The Dixons’ years of commitment to music and young people personify the goals of this scholarship.
Fresh from college, the Dixons joined the MEA family in June of 1971. Janelle had her Bachelor of Music degree and Harold came with a M.A. in Music. The Dixons taught music through June of 1975, making many memories along the way. They celebrated their first wedding anniversary climbing Mount Ellis and their daughter Lara Jeanine Dixon was born in 1973.
After a three-year absence, the Dixons returned to MEA in the summer of 1978 and settled in for 20 years. Between 1978 and 1985 Harold added Attendance Officer, Vice-Principal, sophomore Bible and handbells to his professional résumé.
In June of 1985 Harold left teaching to accept a position as Asst. Treasurer of the MT Conference. Janelle continued in the Music Department, teaching piano, accompanying the choirs and playing in the band under multiple
subsequent music directors. She also served as registrar from 1985 to 1995.
The Dixons moved to Alaska in 1998 where Harold was Asst. Treasurer and then Treasurer of the AK Conference. He finished his career as Treasurer of the ID Conference, retiring in May of 2011. Through it all, Janelle has continued teaching piano, even after their LAST move to Spangle, WA where they now live.
Though they no longer live or work here, anytime they drive into the Gallatin Valley Harold and Janelle say they get that “coming home” feeling. They are grateful for the privilege of being a part of so many lives across so many years here at MEA.
We, too, are grateful for their dedication to the young people of Mount Ellis for so many years. It is a pleasure to continue their legacy through this scholarship.

AEF rEPorts
Mount Ellis is blessed to benefit from the Adventist Education Foundation, a fund specifically designated for ongoing maintenance costs at MEA. AEF supplements donations by promising $35,000 towards $50,000 worth of targeted projects. Last summer we saw the first projects completed. These included new carpet in the IA building, new carpet, paint, and texture in the AD Building as well as money for road and sidewalk restoration work which will be undertaken this summer. New projects have been chosen for 2012 and are listed below with projected costs. If you wish to support these improvements simply indicate your desire when you submit your gift.
