Demand pattern suited for Solar PV throughout

the Day/Month/Year

Large parcels of Land available which can not be

used for any other commercial purpose

High Commercial Tariff

Spiraling increase of Grid Power Cost

Energy contributes 20% of OPEX of large airport

AD Benefit further reduces the Solar Power Cost

Reduces Carbon emissions and provides a green

image, will also reduce HVAC load

Supportive policy for Solar Installation JNNSM

Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL)

DIAL has installed 2.14 MW plant at IGI Airport and is the First airport in Indiahaving mega solar power plant at airside premises.

This measure has been taken to promote renewable energy use andreduce associate emission and also to support National Climate ChangeAction Plan.

Special Design and Permission processes have been adopted to place thesolar system near Runway area.

Glare and Radiation impact study was conducted to study the airportoperation navigational system disturbance and glare to pilots to ensure thesafety of aircraft operation.

Special permission has been obtained after multiple discussions withDirectorate General of Civil Aviation.

This is innovation since IGIA is the First Airport adopted this technology forgeneration 2.14 MW renewable energy. Also DIAL recently implementedsecond phase of 5.7 MW plant in the airfield area.

This also creates awareness to airport and demonstrates the organizationcommitment towards sustainable airport development.
