The hortus conlusus that I dream of is enclosed all around and open to the sky.

Every time I imagine a garden in an architectural setting, it turns into magical place.

I think of gardens that I have seen, that I believe I have seen, that I long to see,

surrounded by simple walls, columns, arcades or the façade of buildings

- sheltered places of great intimacy where I want to stay for a long time.

“To plan a city, everything begins with human behaviour, but

architects and city planners have lost the ability to handle scale.

We now approach the design process in plan, as though

everyone experiences the world from the top of a high-rise

building. But at eye-level, everything is terrible. This type of

planning is a waste of time”
