From the Pastor’s Desk Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Summer’s last celebration: Labor Day was last week. This means that the school year has begun and all of our lives will take on a
different rhythm. This includes our parish community.
For the past few weeks, we have been conducting the registration for the students of our Religious Education Program. The last days to register your child for this year’s program are this coming Friday,
September 13th from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon and then again from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Saturday, September 14th from
9 a.m. to 12 p.m..This will be the last day for registration. Registrations will be held in the parish rectory.
The registration fee is $25.00 per child. There is more information on our parish website: Turibius.org. You will find the information
under the tab on the bottom left of the home screen “Religious Education Classes 2019-2020”.
The first day of classes will be on September 17th at 6 pm for all of our students who are entering their first year of preparation and September 18th at 6:00 p.m. for all of our students who are in their second year of preparation. On these dates the parents must be present so that we can go over the particulars of our programs.
These sessions will begin in our Parish Church.

Post - Summer Challenges With any luck, summer delights will continue a while past last weekend’s Labor Day: refreshing recreation (with maybe an occasional swim) or enjoyable relaxation on the deck (with tasty outdoor grilling). Truth is, for some of us, this year’s Labor Day came way too early. With many schools back in session for a while already, mealtimes and
driving schedules needed readjustment to coordinate youth sports with adult commitments. Some religious education and parish programs resumed, too. No
surprise, then, that this weekend’s scriptures sound a little like post-summer challenges. For instance, Wisdom reminds us that believers in God can never be
content with “timid deliberations” and “unsure plans.” Paul challenges longtime friend and follower Philemon to “let the good you do be voluntary.” Jesus instructs “great
crowds” traveling with him—including us—on three things necessary for all true disciples to accomplish. On this early autumn weekend, our scriptures describe
disciples’ lifelong labors.

You have a special way, dear friend, of filling hearts with cheer. The clouds just seem to roll away whenever you are near. Perhaps it is your sunny smile or nice things that you
do, or just the fact you’ve always been a friend so warm and true. Yours is a very special way so full of warmth and cheer. I always seem to wear a smile whenever you are
near. -Kay Hoffman
Therefore, you shall love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your
strength. Take to heart these words which I enjoin on your today.

Catechist Needed We are in need of individuals who are willing
to share their faith.
Our Religious Education program continues to grow and we are in need of catechists and aides for all grade levels. Who are we looking for? You - yes you - caring individuals who love their faith and want to make a difference in a child’s faith formation. I think
we have many parishioners who would be perfect for this and would be great at bringing the word of God to the children of our parish who are not able to attend Catholic schools. Why not give it a try, volunteer as a catechist or aide. It will make a difference in your life and in the lives of the children you teach. Won’t you
please help us by volunteering as a catechist so that we can continue to accept all the children who come to us to be formed in
the Catholic faith?
We are also in need of adults who could help us with our traffic control at the beginning of classes and at dismissal. Because of the number of children in our program, the traffic has created a
problem around the Church and School. We need adults to help with this problem. If you could give us some help in trying to
secure the safety of our children, it would be greatly appreciated.
God Bless You!
For further information, please call Sr. Eliana at the Religious Education office at 773-581-2730 Ext. 134.

“With gratitude for God's blessings, the Augustinian Province of Saint Thomas of Villanova received Michael Riggs, O.S.A.into the Order on August 3rd, 2019.
Brother Michael made his simple profession of vows at Saint Thomas of Villanova Church, Villanova, PA before Father Joseph L. Farrell, O.S.A., Vicar General of the Order.
Simple vows are renewed annually for at least three years, after which a friar is invited to solemn profession. Simple vows mark the culmination of a candidate's novitiate, a year-long period of prayer and discernment in which the novice is introduced to the Augustinian way of life.”

We Are One Family, Encircled by God’s Love!
Saint Turibius Parish
Parish Mission Statement
We Believe that God is Love, and when we live in love we live in God and God lives in
us! Therefore we, the Parish Family of Saint Turibius, dedicate ourselves to living out
Christ’s Great Commandment: we will love the Lord our God with all our heart, with all our soul, with all our mind, and with all our strength, and we will show our love for God
by the way we love and care for one another. To this end, we will respond to our baptismal
call, strengthened by the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ and empowered by
the Holy Spirit. As a Family of Faith that has an Attitude of Gratitude for the gifts God has given to us, we will share our time, our talent
and our treasure with each other. We welcome into our parish family all people, because we
believe that together we are the Body of Christ and together we can bring the love, peace,
forgiveness, healing, and joy of Christ into our community in ways we never could have if we were to remain apart. May all who meet us, who worship with us, who work and play with
us, know we are Christians by our love!
