TRANSCRIPT

Welcome Year 8 !

Log onto the machine where your name is...and

then come back to the centre desks and

complete the starter.

This Olympic (or "Olympic Message") has appeared on the scoreboard during Ceremony at every modern

Olympic Games. Baron de Coubertin was inspired to adopt this creed after he heard a sermon by the Bishop of Pennsylvania, at a service for Olympic in 1908. It reminds us that in our life, just like in the Olympics, is not the most important thing. It is the ultimate challenge for which we all

struggle as we strive to be "Swifter, Higher, Stronger.""The most thing in the Olympic Games is not to win but to take part, just as the most important thing in is not the triumph, but the struggle. The essential thing is not to

have conquered, but to have well."

Improved our understanding of the planning and impact of London

2012 by adopting the role of Boris Johnson as Mayor of London

Mr Kelly’s introduction to

London.....

How true to you?

Cut out the statements and place them in....order from left to right regarding how strongly you agree with them........

The venues, school and community education

programmes, will help to increase

participation in sport and physical activity among young people.

Watching British athletes take part in

the Olympics will inspire young

children to take part in sport in the future.

More young people in Britain will train for sport hoping to take part in the London

2012 Olympics.

Less that a third of young people are not

active enough to enjoy a healthy lifestyle. Young people will be

encouraged to be healthier because of the 2012 Olympics.

Games will be everyone’s Games –

an inclusive and wholly-integrated

part of an inspiring 60-day celebration of

youth, sport and culture.

The Paralympic Games will mean improved

infrastructure including more

accessible sporting venues and better

public transport for those with disabilities.

The ‘Green Games’ approach shows

young people with environmental

concerns that sport can be a driver of change in areas of interest to them.

The Olympics idea inspires people to be

the best they can.

London 2012 will demonstrate to

young people the power of the Games to bring the world

together.

whilst creating a lasting legacy for the

United Kingdom.
