YOU’VE BEEN FRAMED!VALENTINES GIFT BOX

You’ve Been Framed!Valentines Gift Box

• I love when I can come up with an idea that serves a dual purpose and I think this Valentines gift box is great for that.

• Your local party store has tons of gift boxes, some plain, some covered in different paper – the choices are endless.

• Why not create something to give a loved one that is a step up the drugstore candy valentine?

• This is a simple project – have fun!

Valentines Gift Box

You will need:- Empty gift box – size/color up to you- Two complementary papers- Old fashioned Valentines card (or any card you

like)- Blank frame - ideally similar size to your box

top- Scissors/glue/pencil- Decorative or Washi Tape- Bakers twine, or ribbon- Photo

Supplies

STEP 1

• Remove heart template from frame. Set aside. You will need later.

• Place your frame UPSIDE DOWN on the “wrong side of the paper.

• Trace out overall shape and heart shape.

• Cut out. HINT: For cutting out the heart shape, make a little cut in the middle and then cut out to the edge (like spokes in a wheel.) Easier to get a cleaner cut that way.

Step 2

• Glue your paper to the frame, making sure your opening is correct for the heart insert.

Step 3

• Glue your Valentines card to your 2nd background paper.

• Cut out, leaving approx. 1” around your image as a “frame”

Step 4

• Glue your card and backing paper to front of frame.

• HINT: I like when it hangs off the end of the frame – it makes it more interesting. But make sure the bottom is flush to the frame. If you use it as a frame, it will not stand up correctly if bottom is not even.

Step 5

• Choose the photo you would like to insert into the frame.

• Using the heart template you previously set aside, lay over your image to make sure you are able to capture the photo in the way you want.

• The next part is optional…but I wanted to dress my gift box up.

• Wrap the top and sides of your box with decorative or Washi tape. I like how these patterns complemented the color of the box as well as my background papers.

HINT

• Tape the piece that will hold up your frame inside the box top so it does not get lost.

Final Steps

• Lightly glue your frame to the box top.• The lid of the box will come off with the

frame intact so the recipient can get to the goodies inside – diamonds, chocolate, new car keys perhaps!

• Your loved one can also take the frame off the box top and use it as a stand alone frame and still have a prettily decorated box to keep.

• Wrap it up in some bakers twine…I liked the way that looked with the old fashioned card.
