The Step Pyramid

The first pyramid was built in 2630 B.C. It is called the Step Pyramid. It was 450 ft. high. It was supposed to represent a gigantic staircase for the king to climb . There was a pit for the boat that carries kings body to a river.

Weapons of War Soldiers first played an important role in Egypt around 3000 B.C. The pharaohs later undertook the military abroad in Palestine,Syria, and Nubia.the Egyptian army was well organized. It had a order of officers ,from the pharaoh himself down to the officers in charge of about 50 soldiers.these are some of the weapons they used: ceremonial ax with open work head, battle ax,silver-shafted ax, dagger, long sword, shields, spears, and a short sword.

Buying and selling

Egypt was the wealthiest country of the ancient world. The Egyptians were masters of trade. Bartering was a common way of exchanging goods. You might trade a walking stick or a fine pair of sandals or maybe a linen garment for a large quantity of food. Ducks get traded a lot.

Hunting, fishing, and fowling

The ancient Egyptian civilization was among the first to regard hunting and fishing as both a sport and a source of food. While many professional hunters and fishermen lived from their trade, sportsmen enjoyed leaving the towns behind, spend a few days in the company of other men and measure their hunting skills with those of professionals, as they still do today. At the time of the pharaohs farming produced an abundance of food, so hunting was mainly a recreation for kings and courtiers.

Food and Drink

There was some food and drink that we still eat today from hundreds of years ago. Here are some: pomegranates, grapes, bread, dates, palm tree fruit, figs, beer, onion, garlic, leeks, beans, lentils, lettuce, gourds, cucumbers and melons, but NO citrus fruits.
