Dear Parishioners and Friends of St. Lawrence,
With the passing of Dick Shirey, I lost not only a
Business Manager but a true friend. That friendship
is one that will remain but connected to eternity, but
the need of a Business Manager for the parish can’t
be met from that side.
Several have approached me about the position, so
here is the process I will use in selecting a person for
the position:
Anyone interested would need to forward a
resume to the Parish Office.
Copies will be made and distributed to all the
members of the Parish Finance Council.
The Finance Council will meet on April 30
for their regular monthly meeting at which the
various resumes will be reviewed and
prioritized.
The Finance Council will make a
recommendation of two or three of the
applicants.
Depending on the discussion of the
candidates, an interview of those two or three
may take place.
A final selection will be made by May 15.
The deadline for applications will be April 28 –
last Sunday of the month before the Finance Council
Meeting. There is some urgency to this as we need to
move forward on business matters of the parish.
Sincerely,
Fr. Dave

PARISH MINISTRIES AND ANNOUNCEMENTS
ADULT FAITH FORMATION COLUMN (Sue Wilhelm)
Karen Hoffman and Sophia Senese will be leading the
children’s liturgy of the Word. If you are in high
school or a college student and would like to assist with
this ministry, please let Sue or Kelsi know. We could use
a few more hands.
I am a member of the Household of God. God is
head of my household.
The readings during Liturgy the last two Sundays, as
well as today, point to the grace and gift of Baptism.
The Samaritan woman at the well, thirsted and Jesus
invited her to Living Water. From her encounter
with Christ she witnessed to her family and friends
who in turn came to believe. Then Jesus invites the
man born blind to wash in the Pool of Siloam. He
washes, sees clearly, believes and proclaims what
Jesus has done for him. This week Jesus raises
Lazarus from the dead, reminding us that in Baptism
we die to sin and are raised up in Christ, a new
creation.
I invite you as a household of God to ponder the gift
of Baptism. If there are children, show them
pictures and talk to them about their Baptism, about
the significance of belonging to Christ and to the
Church which is their community and family of
faith. As adults, we can reflect on these same graces.
We can also ask ourselves how these readings invite
us to a deeper encounter with Jesus in light of our
own Baptism. What is Christ’s invitation to us?
How are we sharing the Christ Life that is central to
our everyday lives with others?
May we live and witness to this precious gift of
Baptism, a life transformed in Christ.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Centering Prayer
All are welcome for Centering Prayer practiced in
community every Saturday after 8:00am Mass at St.
Wilhelm will facilitate the practice.
The fourth Saturday of each month will include study and
reflection after Centering Prayer.
THIS Sunday, April 7 | 6:00 PM Join us for a dramatization of the Last Supper
presented by men of the parish and the St. Lawrence
Choir. In this living dramatization, the Twelve
Apostles speak their minds to themselves, to each
other and to the Lord in the light of the words that
they have just heard Jesus speak: “One of you will
betray Me.” The play focuses on just a few seconds
in time at the Last Supper when Jesus announced
that someone would betray him that night. After
each shocking pronouncement, each apostle in turn
relives his history with Jesus, reviews his faith and
agonizes that he may be the traitor.
THANKS FROM THE METZGER FAMILY:
We are very grateful for the love and care shown to
Harry Metzger during the last years of his life and at the
time of his death. We are thankful to all who visited
Harry at the hospital, Signature Healthcare and the other
nursing homes where he resided over the past two and a
half years. Special thanks to Jake Marhoefer, Tom and
Joellen Ward, Jack and Tayla Greiner, Steve Goodman,
and others who brought Holy Communion to Harry
during this time.
We are humbled and more than grateful for the visits
of our friends and loved ones at Meeks Mortuary on the
day before Harry’s funeral, and for all who sent flowers
or notes, made memorial donations, or arranged for
Masses to be offered for Harry.
The Funeral Mass at St. Lawrence was a beautiful,
faith-filled, and loving experience of worship and support
which would not have been possible without the help of
Fr. Dave, Fr. Bob, Jason Hart, the Resurrection Choir,
Mike Wallace, Jack Sharp, Dan Dalton, and Jim and
Jeanette Carnes.
The delicious funeral meal, served by Dolphus and
Nora Stephens and their team, enabled our loved ones,
including out of towners, to continue to be together and
enjoy one another’s company before we went our
separate ways.
As we ask that you continue to pray for the repose of
Harry’s soul, please know that we will keep you in our
hearts and in our prayers.
