One of my favorite movie lines comes from the lips of a young girl who is transported by the wind (tornado) to another place that she finds completely different than her home. She speaks the line to her little dog, whose name was also one of my favorite bands. By now you realize I am talking about the movie, The Wizard of Oz. The line? Dorothy says, “Toto, I’ve a feeling we’re not in Kansas anymore.”

And of course, she isn’t in Kansas anymore! She is in the land of Oz where so many things are different.

It makes me think about our lives as Christians. We were transported by the winds and storm on that Good Friday as Jesus hung on the cross, only to land into the bursting colors of sunshine on that Easter Sunday! When we see how our hearts, our lives, and our world now look we ought to say a similar line, “Brothers and Sisters, I’ve a feeling we’re not in the old sinful patterns anymore.”

We hear the difference proclaimed in 2 Corinthians 5:17.“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!”

Christ’s resurrection impacts everything! We are different! Therefore, we are Dreaming Different, Living Different, and Making Different!

How Different are you? When you look around…where do you find yourself? Be Different … Be His.

For the elderly, falling is cause for concern. About one-third of the senior population over the age of 65 falls each year. The percentage grows proportionately with age. More than half of the elderly who are 80 years old will fall at least once every year.

Keep your eyes open for potential problems for falling dangers: - Are there large throw rugs lying around? These can be slippery and dangerous. - Are rooms and hallways properly lit with night lights? - Are handrails available? - Do slippers and shoes have rubber soles? - Have they had their vision checked lately?

Now that it is spring, the elderly will get out more, and this increases the likelihood of taking a spill. Help your loved one to be safe and enjoy the beauties of the springtime.

Please remember to contact the Church Office if you go into the hospital or need homebound care. Your church and pastors are a blessed channel of grace and support for people in their hour of need.

TLS 8th graders decorated the tables for our March Hamburger Day. They did a fantastic job!

Cancer Care MinistryPurpose: We believe that no family should have to bear the burdens of cancer alone.Goal: To be a place of love and safety for these families by providing them with authentic relationships, tangible resources and spiritual care so that they might experience peace, wholeness and a connection to the God of hope.

Anyone interested in serving on this team is invited to attend a class on April 3, at 9:50 a.m. in the chapel.

Save the Date for EXI T 2016 As you girls start to plan your summer calendar save

the dates July 15-17, for a weekend get-a-way to Fredericksburg. Watch up coming news with more

information!

Friends and family of Jake Hickford are teaming with Brennan’s Buddies for a summer toy drive. On May 26 we will be visiting the cancer floor at Texas Children’s Hospital to spread a little happiness. While many of us are planning summer vacations, swim competitions and outside activities, cancer kids will continue with their treatments, many of them staying inpatient for weeks. Jake and Brennan both have May birthdays so we do this in honor of them, bringing toys and birthday cake to the kids on the ninth floor. We invite you to help us bring some joy and fun to these kids by donating toys and gift cards. Toys must be new and please don’t forget the teens … they love iTunes, nail polish, spunky/quirky socks and slippers, adult coloring books, and cool decks of cards. Look for the drop boxes placed on campus and THANK YOU!

TRINITY FURNATURE MINISTRY is collecting donated furniture and giving to needy families through our Benevolence Ministry. Since the Fall we have helped several single moms moving into apartments in our community. We are only collecting the following items: beds, dressers, nightstands, small table and chairs, couches and love seats. Drop offs are preferred but we can arrange pick up’s if necessary. Please call 281-376-5773 or email Jennifer Kiel at [email protected] for more information.

Let us stand firm for the rights of all people, especially for the most vulnerable, defenseless of them all, the unborn children … The Church has confessed from the begin-

ning that each life is created by God, that human life is the supreme gift of the Creator. Human life is not given uncon-ditionally but is given under the condition that we will be

responsible for preserving it.”

- Abbot Tryphon, Vashon Island, Washington

STEPPING OUT TO ALASKA

Trinity is excited to offer an opportunity to participate in Mission Outreach this summer in Alaska. We

will be taking volunteers into two areas of the state where we can serve,

feed, teach, and play while reaching the many who are unchurched and unbelievers to serve them in the

name of Christ and find opportunities to be a verbal witness.

When? July 9-16, 2016 Where? Anchorage & Sterling, AK Cost? $850 (travel & accomodations) Want more info? Go online or contact Bruce and Mickey Martin at [email protected] or Jennifer Kiel at [email protected]

KENYA NEEDS YOUR HELP

We are asking for help in making “pockets” for the eyeglasses at our vision clinics in Kenya. Please pick up a sample and

instructions from the table in the Sanctuary Lobby if you are able to help. This is a great way to use small pieces of fabric

you may have from other projects. You may bring the pockets to the church office before April 25. Thank you!

- Brian Ashe

A few years ago, Trinity’s Kenya missionaries had just returned and several of the participants spoke to the congregation about the trip and what a blessing it was for the people in Kenya and also for themselves. After hearing them speak, the Holy Spirit’s voice softly began calling me. During the following months that voice kept saying “you need to give this Kenya thing some thought and prayer because I want you to go!” Just as the hymn “Listen, God is Calling” (Hymn 833 in our hymnal) starts with “Listen, listen, God is calling, Through the Word inviting … Jesus gave His mandate, Share the good news…”, I was being called.

Over time, the Holy Spirit’s voice grew stronger and, eventually, I found myself answering His calling and saying YES, I’d go. Little did I know what a wonderful experience the trip would be – and what a blessing for those that are ministered to, and also to the team members.

Since that time, I have been on three mission trips to Kenya. These trips share the good news of Jesus Christ and provide eyeglasses or eye surgery to those suffering with eye afflictions. To witness the JOY these folks experience when they can clearly see what they couldn’t before is awesome! In addition, the members of the teams that go to Kenya are blessed – blessed to see what God has done through their work of improving people’s vision, blessed to see the tears of happiness shed by the people, and blessed to share some parting words about the good news of Jesus Christ as the people depart the clinics.

So now, if you are wondering whether or not to join others on a Kenya mission trip, listen to the Holy Spirit and pray for guidance. It may take time but your prayers will be answered and, quite possibly, you will be saying “Here am I, send me, send me.”

“Send Me, Send Me”

Boy Scout Troop 1333 would like your support by attending their Car Wash Fundraiser which will allow opportunities for Scouts to attend summer camp. Bring your vehicle to the east side parking lot of Trinity FLC on April 9 between 8 a.m. and

1 p.m. to receive a clean and fresh look for your vehicle. We thank Trinity for your support, see you at the Car Wash!
