Archibald Knox

Who Is Archibald Knox?Knox was one of the best decorative art designers in Britain during 19th and 20th centuries, but himself and his work are almost unknown in todays world.

Although he was under-appreciated he was mainly recognised for his Celtic Revival style in silver, pewter (malleable metal), fabrics, ceramics and jewellery.

Most of his work was then marketed by Liberty & Co. A high end fashion retail store, who also sell fabrics, accessories and loads more high end retail. Knox designed everything from textiles to garden pots for Liberty & Co.

He is also considered to be an inspiration and a genius behind British Art Nouveau that has become known as the ‘Liberty Style’.

Other information on Archibald Knox

Born in 1864 on the isle of man, and was fascinated by the island’s Norse and Celtic carved stone crosses.

He also created other artworks as well, such as watercolours, graphic designs and fonts.

After leaving Liberty & Co he then went on to teach

He Died in 1933.
