ZAC MASSY, COMPETITION PROPOSAL

The project falls within the rectangular plot D, ZAC of Europe in Massy, the cor-ner of the Bonde and Aulnaye Dracourt St, surrounded by roads planted with trees and low vegetations. The entry of cars is to the north by the road from the Aulnaye Dracourt St, which leads to120 parking spaces. The truck access is tothe south, which allows loop path within the site.

From the outside, it is mass of protec-tive bricks, vertically punctuated by long glass openings. The four exterior fa-cades, differentiated according to their orientations are characterized by the rhythm of ribs of vertical glazed brick. These ribs creat a thickness that pro-tects the vertical windows too direct sun-light. The tall windows allow maximum light on the ground floor and offices on the first floor.

Pedestrians enter from the east en-trance; the trucks from the south and turn around the patio inside. The patio al-lows direct access to the offices. Around the patio are four distributed terraces, connected by corridors along the metal facades.

Floor plan is modulated, which provides possible accommodation to business oroffices premises.

INDIAN HOUSING

The site locates in Punjab, India where the density of residence is high due to the climate and geographical conditions. The proposed solution for the neighborhood is a self-grow-ing modulated house. Considering the local accomodation habit, the bedrooms in the house can be added onto vertically. While the bedrooms maintain individually privacy on the top, the ground level enjoys the publicity of being the family and guestes gathering place .While the water serves as an evidence in the plan, the Zen garden is another clue as one moves through the complex up and down.

PIER 1RESIDENTIAL & HOTEL

Being part of the pier 1 development, the site enjoys one of the best view in the world. In or-der to grab the opportu-nity and further amplify it, the project focuses on collecting the view by playing with reflection and tansparency. The fa-cade facing manhattan is made of triangulated reflective alunmiunm and tinted glass penals, while the other one being the continuation of the park and wraps around verti-cally. Oriented towards the view, the plan snakes through the site, provid-ing 200 four stars hotel rooms and 50 residential units. Hotel also includes one ballroom with inde-pendent entrance and spa that shared with the resitential building.

Porto al Futuro:Immaginando uno Sprawl Urbano SanoAs more and more of Europe’s population migrate towards living in cities, the once internal development of these walled cities is redi-rected to its periphery. Florence, being located in a flat valley has the geographical limitations of the surrounding mountains and the Arno River, which hinders the general direction and density of its sprawl. The sprawl, or the suburbs on the outskirt of the city, are vast areas with low densities of people and buildings, which consequently creates an environment where automobile dependency is inevitable. Because of this dependency, the standard of living is much different than that in cities, mostly in terms of activity, creating the stigma that people who live amongst sprawl are conditioned to obesity and hypertension, and environmental and cultural issues.

To combat against this decline in health, both physically and mentally, I propose the introduction of an AMO/OMA archive and a European Union think tank which stands at the boundary of urban sprawl. The spa bridges in between two office towers, and together shape into the “porta”.

With the new Belfiore Train Station, allowing direct access via train, thoughts can be brought together from a further range. Programs, in-cluding medical spa and Nike fuel station etc, being parallelly inserted focusing on promoting social as well as physical activity. Locating in the middle of the complex, the “porta”, the think tank bridges two tow-ers together. The offices on the top part of the “prota” offers job mobili-ty for commuters within the EU. While the open market on the entrance level conveniently supplies fresh fruits and vegetables on a daily base.

The project is a ‘playground’ for people who actually live in Firenze. This complex is intended to be used by the citizens living in sprawl as well as city center; to engage people in and outside of the “porta”; to create a network of communication for the better and healthier future to Europe’s development.

Proposed as part of the PlaNYC2030, the project fo-cus on providing a new trav-el experience from Brooklyn to Manhattan for the grow-ing biking poplulation. An new biking tunnel is being added onto the existed on using the infrastructure in-cluding supporting structure and other utility like electric-ity and air ventilation. Being further applied, the experi-ence could potentially be extended to goverment is-land, liberty island, as well as other tunnel systems in NYC. The project is a sign.

STUDIO LOFT

29 Jay StSt

Located in dumbo area, the site is surrounded by residential buildings that converted from abundoned warehouses and factories. And it become a popular living spot for young art-ists as a result of its relatively low cost.

To accomodate with the spirit of young artists, the proj-ect provides low cost living and working space, as well as social space. Two building was seperated by a courtyard. The higher one sets back in order to get better view. With the retail store capturing the corner of Jay & Plymouth St, entrance is also encouraged form Plymouth St by filtering through the structure and into the plaza. Lobby level is el-evated to second level. However, the most exciting part would be underground party house satisfying the emotional needs of the residents.
