BRONX IIMIXED-USE PERFORMANCE + LIVINGSOUTH BRONX, NEW YORKCOLLABORATION W/ MATT CATROWSPRING 2014

The Bronx II is a complex network of interweaving tubes shooting out of the ground plane, frozen in mid-air. Spawning from two individual projects mashed together, the Bronx II combines the heavy and powerful language of horizontal movements and creates an illusion of a floating city. The program is a mixed-use environment, combining over 300 micro housing units with commercial and performance spaces, in addition to sky-parks and gardens that are hundreds of feet high in the air. This project rivals Manhattans original “High-Line”, becoming an iconic presence to the struggling South Bronx, and brings the rest of New York into perspective as well as bringing the undermined borough itself back into recognition.

STUDIO SERPENTELIVE + WORK + SHOW [ITALIAN CINEMA]MATERA, ITALYSUMMER 2014

Studio Serpente is an ever-changing gallery and exhibition space that serves as a testament to the ancient city of Matera, Italy, and celebrates the culture’s rich history in Italian film-making. While still preserving the existing building and site, an intervening “snake-like” structure digs in and out of the ground, crawling under and over the existing site to allow for a whole new perspective for visitors while also avoiding blocked views to and from the historical building. As this is a “live-work-show” programmatic scheme, there is a dialog between public and private interaction, allowing for visitors to periodically observe behind-the-scenes working spaces, as well as cinematic premiers. It is the intention that creating such a lively and modern renovation will instill new life and recognition to not only the site but to this forgotten city.

BRONX I[CAROUSEL]MIXED-USE PERFORMANCE + LIVINGSOUTH BRONX, NEW YORKWINTER 2014

Located in the South Bronx, The Carousel is a sky-high mixed-use vertical playground for the community, inspiring performance and curiosity. The Pavilion provides micro-housing for the community in addition to various commercial and public programs, such as a fresh-foods grocery store, a pre-kindergarten education facility, a molecular gastronomy lab and kitchen, and multiple black box performance theaters. The ambition of the project is to serve as a monument of sustainability that also invites new life and brings the community of the South Bronx together.

ELECTRI_CITYMULTI - MEDIA THEATERLOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIAFALL 2013

Electri-City began with studying two-dimensional patterns that were then animated into three-dimensional forms. It was from these animation studies that inspired me to develop an architectural language that could be adapted to a given site and program. In this case, the site was located in Culver City, CA, and the program was a multi-media street-performance space, that became nestled between two commercial slopes.
