Greetings from the Arpin- Ricci clan! Back to School & StuWhat an incredible summer we’ve had! The highlight, by far, was the visit from Kim’s parents from Australia. Spending more than a month here, they were able to join us for the Ricci family gathering in Rainy River, in which Micah and his Aussie grandpa (aka Pop) built and raced a cardboard canoe; come along on our road trip to Vail, Colorado and South Dakota’s Badlands; and spent many hours playing and working around the house. A special bonus was all the help they lent us in doing some home repairs that our century plus year old home needed. However, being able to simply hang out and see them with their grandson was the highlight for sure. We miss them already! Preparing for the Peace & Justice Internship It seems like our last Peace & Justice Internship just finished, but we are already gearing up for our fourth time through the program. We are especially excited this year as our first applicants from outside North America are beginning to express real interest. In fact, one possible intern is applying from Ethiopia, which Micah is particularly thrilled about. Adding an international dynamic to the program is important, as it helps open the eyes of our participants to the diversity in God’s kingdom, challenging us to see things through the eyes of others. Pray that everything comes together for the applicants. Also keep Kim and our team member, Brenda, in your prayers as they do the hard work of putting the program together and preparing for the new applicants. With Jamie on sabbatical until the program begins, it is a lot of work. Let us know if you or someone you know is interested in being part of this exciting opportunity! Sabbatical Update! Can you believe that three of the nine months of Jamie’s sabbatical have already passed? Yet, even in the short time (which included a very busy family summer break), he has been doing great. He has been able to continue with his writing, trying his hand at fiction. He hopes that fiction will help him communicate ideas in ways that are fresh and creative. Can’t wait to read what he writes! He has also just come home from a trip to Toronto where he led a church retreat for Church of the Resurrection, an Anglican parish. Teaching around the themes of his last book, “Vulnerable Faith”, Jamie challenged the community to step into their missional calling with humility, mutuality and love. He is excited at the prospect of teaching this material in other contexts. Please continue to pray for Jamie as he also endeavours to address the sustainability of his future role in ministry while living with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Micah While Jamie was suffering from a persistent headache, Micah gave me a big hug: Jamie: I love you, buddy. You are my medicine. Micah: I love you too, Daddy. You are my bacon. #bestcomplimentever Micah 6:8 Do Justice. Love Mercy. Walk Humbly. www.arpin-ricci.com [email protected] 445 Furby St. Winnipeg, MB R3B 2V7

Greetings from the Arpin-Ricci clan!

Back to School & Stuff

What an incredible summer we’ve had!

Preparing for the Peace & Justice Internship

It seems like our last Peace & Justice Internship just finished, but we are already gearing up for our fourth time through the program. We are especially excited this year as our first applicants from outside North America are beginning to express real interest. In fact, one possible intern is applying from Ethiopia, which Micah is particularly thrilled about. Adding an international dynamic to the program is important, as it helps open the eyes of our participants to the diversity in God’s kingdom,

challenging us to see things through the eyes of others.

Micah While Jamie was suffering from a persistent headache, Micah gave me a big hug:

Jamie: I love you, buddy. You are my medicine.

Micah: I love you too, Daddy. You are my bacon.

Adoption Update After years of little to no progress on our second adoption, we are thrilled to announce that we received word this last week that the process has been moving steadily forward despite what seemed like an endless stall. While there is still potentially 18 to 24 months left in the process, we now know that it has been moving forward and we are getting closer to finding out who our new son/brother will be and learn when we can bring him home. As always, your prayers are much needed.

Little Flowers Community & Chiara House With Jamie on sabbatical, Kim has continued to serve in her role of leadership alongside others in Little Flowers Community. However, she has taken on more responsibilities to help out, such as preaching more often, providing pastoral care and pitching in where there is a need. The whole community has risen to the occasion amazingly. The summer was a season of learning for everyone, as we faced the challenges of a young congregation that has grown to two locations. There is much more to learn, but we are encouraged by how people are stepping up and pitching in. We are excited to see what the future holds.

Chiara House continues to be a vibrant community and affordable housing option for our neighbourhood. After being open for more than a year, we have only had one change over in all of the apartments. Generally, apartments in the West End have a much higher turn over rate. This is encouraging, as we realize that people are finding security and community in the building, something that is sadly rare for many people in our neighbourhood. We have also begun to use the emergency suite for people in need of emergency housing or hospitality.

The past year has been one of great joy and great challenge. While we have seen God’s provision time and again, we have also seen our support drop. Please keep us in your prayers. If you would like to support us financially, please see the enclosed information. Never hesitate to contact us directly with any questions. Until next time!

Peace,

Jamie, Kim & Micah
