MAKING WAVES

There may be many cruises on offer but if your group size is 60 persons or less then Asia World holds Apsara cruise by Banyan Tree to be heads above the rest in terms of ambience and superior quality of food. Take in the atmosphere at any time of day – the morning hustle and bustle with a breakfast cruise or an alternative offsite lunch option… even for sun-downers and dinner as you watch the sky dramatically change hue and the city lights emerge like sultry sirens reflecting in the waves. And why not accompany this by journeying to the pier in a fleet of multi-coloured tuk tuks for a night cap at the infamous Sky Bar at Sirocco on the 63rd floor of Lebua hotel – the world’s highest open air bar… it’s a must!

SUPER HUMAN FEATS! Asia World’s intrepid master of MICE – Richard James Smith - has been challenging the rules of nature – is he the new messiah? How could this be? A man of sizeable proportions (who promises to hit the gym… one day) managed the impossible by walking on water (pictured, right). There were gasps, there were screams and, of course, plenty of laughter as Richard took to the water like a beached whale but surprised all nay-sayers by completing the most unique check-in experience to date provided by the creative events team at Amari Orchid Pattaya. In fact the whole dramatic entrance from the Tiffany Showgirl welcome followed by the “Walking on Water” challenge across the pool to complete the check-in procedure proved the ultimate of ice-breakers and team building activities to ensure everyone connected even if they got a little wet.

Both Amari Orchid Pattaya and Amari Watergate Bangkok are at the frontline of

the MICE industry when it comes to inventive and attractive stays from the moment you check-in to your gala dinner and farewell.

DID YOU KNOW…? Thailand has a plethora of flora and fauna as diverse as its landscapes. In fact so diverse that Thailand has the claim to being home to both the largest and smallest land mammal.

Louise Rogerson (EARS) and Richard Smith hang out with Sombo the happily retired elephant.

Asia World DMC looks to Louise Rogerson, founder of Elephant Asia Rescue and Survival Foundation (EARS) www.earsasia.org, to give concerned travellers (or visitors - whatever you prefer), professional advice on responsible tourism options for the best elephant sanctuaries in Thailand and Southeast Asia. MICE groups can support this foundation by donation and also by selecting EARS’s unique gifts for their delegates.

See our next newsletter to discover the world’s smallest mammal – indigenous to Kanchanaburi, Thailand.

BANGKOK, THE NEW HOME OF ROCKERBILLY?

The Asia World team have their finger on the pulse… It was to Asia World DMC’s surprise and delight that they happened across this talented crew of musicians known as Trix ‘O’ Treat that throw you back in time with the stylised ‘Rockerbilly’ sound and mix this up with old and new songs both in English and Thai. The Rockerbilly sound has its roots in 1950’s Amercia, synonymous with Elvis’s early years’, a style that melded Country & Western with R&B Rock.

You want to impress your guests with something a little different that will keep all your guests toe-tapping to the music? Then how about Madonna’s ‘Like A Virgin’ in Rockerbilly style? Decked out in their distinct style befitting their music, Trix ‘O’ Treat can turn heads and gain more fans. Interested to book their talent for your next Thailand event?
