    Assimilation

    Definition: (1) When a speech

    sound changes and become morelike another sound which follows it

    or precedes it, this is called

    assimilation.

    speech, adjacent sounds frequentlyinfluence each other so that they

    become more alike, or assimilate.

    This is called assimilation.
