PRINCIPAL’S REPORT
AXEDALE HEALTH AND WELL BEING
EXPO AND SHOWCASE
Congratulations to our School Captain Zara Smith
for completing her role so admirably at the Axedale
Health and Wellness Expo and Showcase last
Saturday. Zara spoke of her fundraising journey
and her motivations behind raising significant
funds for the Heart Foundation.
The day itself was very informative, in particular
the information session about how to use the heart
defibrillator from Ambulance Victoria.
The defibrillator is located in the verandah area of
the Police Station if you ever need it. It is portable
so it can be taken to the patient.
Once opened, the machine talks you through the
steps. You can do no harm by using the machine as
it will not allow an incorrect action to be taken.
PROGRESSIVE DINNER
Our annual Progressive Dinner was on last
Saturday night. We had a full bus load of
enthusiastic participants who all had a great night.
Thanks to the organisers Sarah Vanis, Tracy
Meekings and Corrine Cummins for all of their
work in raising funds for the school and to all of
the school parents who attended. We are very
excited to let families know that $1,914 was raised
on the night. Discussions will be held in coming
weeks about how to allocate these funds.
Miss Blume is quite excited about the possibility of
two new faces joining the School Choir next year!
BOOK WEEK
A big thank you to families for supporting our
Book Character Dress Up day on
Tuesday. It was a very colourful
parade of characters that made their
way around our assembly space. The
children certainly enjoyed the parade,
the day and the activities that
followed.
A big thanks to Mrs. Gentry for
organising all of the classroom
activities, Deb for organising all the
prizes and to Ross for helping to judge
the parade winners.

SOME APPS PARENTS MAY BE INTERESTED IN
Learning potential app released The new Learning Potential app was launched last Friday with the aim to encourage parents to be more
involved in their children’s education. Being positively involved in a child’s learning can help them perform
better at school and be more engaged in their work. The app provides tips and ideas for parents depending
on their child’s age. For more information view the website. Must-download iPad Apps of the week
Paper by FiftyThree (free) CATEGORY: Productivity A great app for sketching and jotting down your next idea. Paper turns your iPad into a digital sketch pad or notebook. Recently updated to enhance your experience, Paper now includes Think Kit, giving you the ability to create diagrams and charts quickly and easily, along with its original tools – Sketch, Write, Draw, Outline & colour.
SkyView (free) CATEGORY: Education
A fantastic stargazing app. Point your iPad camera at the sky to identify stars, constellations, satellites and more. With the ability to set reminders for celestial events this app is a must for anyone interested in stargazing. SkyView provides a fun environment to teach yourself and students about the universe.

energy efficient LED down lights for FREE. Just return the flyer to school and we will organise with the
Bendigo Bank and Energy Makeovers to contact you to organise a suitable time and date. Our school will
receive $1 for every down light replaced. This is open to anyone in the local community so share with your
family and friends. Please return your completed registration form to school ASAP so we can send them into
the bank.

BOOK REPORTS
The Book I am doing is “The Kaboom Kid: Keep it down!”
It is written by David Warner the cricket legend. In this story Davey Warner gets framed and is in detention
because his worst enemy, Mo Clouter, ate a Whopper Chomp lolly and put it on Davey’s table and blamed
him for it. How can he play the match! Their wicket-keeper, Dylan, moved schools and one of his friends,
Kevin, has to do dancing. That means there are only 8 players left! Luckily there is a new girl in grade 6 and
she is an ace wicket-keeper and Mo wants to play too. What’s he up to?! How can Davey play the match?
