A severe cold spell that hit Laos over the last few days has taken its toll on the northernregion with more than 4000 livestock killed and a wide area of crops damaged.Preliminary data show that more than 400 hectares of crops and herbal plants were coveredby snow and a large area of fruit trees were affected. It is also predicted that thousands ofhectares of crops, herbal plants and fruit trees will suffer from the cold weatherThe present map shows basic topographic features derived from public datasets, refined bymeans of visual interpretation of the pre-event imagery.
