ConsumersFor consumers it’s not look-ing too good. There’s going to be a shortage of water and food. Be ready for in-creases in petrol, transpor-tation and food prices.

BusinessmenFor those in business, com-petition is heating up. Not only will you be competing for earnings and income but also for natural resources.

With an expected oversup-ply of good and services, cash will be king. However, those with less cash can still do great if they can find ways to barter trade in a way that is beneficial to both parties. Be on the look out for win-win situations!

EmployeesThose in employment may face high competition among colleagues. Salary increment may also be at a minimal. However, this will most likely be compensated by other benefits.

Industries that will not do well are property, finance, banking and the stock market.

ClimateThe world will enter into a hot and dry season. Certain parts of the world maybe experienc-ing heat waves, drought and bush fires.

News & EventsOn the positive side, this will be a year for marriages and babies. However, we’ll also

Bazi 101

Making sense of 8 characters

Welcome to our first Bazi 101 column. Over the course

of these columns, we’ll be helping you make sense of all those Chinese characters in those little boxes.

In this column we’ll intro-duce the Bazi Chart, which is a natal or birth chart.

Bazi literally means eight characters. In Bazi, each person’s date and time of birth is translated into 8 characters that fill up the 8 boxes of the Bazi Chart.

As you can see, the 8 boxes of the Bazi Chart comprise 4 columns and 2 rows. The 4 columns are referred to as the Four Pillars and represent Pillars for your

hour, date, month and year of birth. Each of these Four Pillars relate to different aspects of your life in terms of relationships, career and health.

What does the Bazi Chart tell us? All about you! Your char-acter is revealed in your chart. You will know your strengths, your weaknesses and your at-titudes.

Also, remember how we said earlier that each pillar repre-sents different aspects of your life? So you will also get clues about your relationships, your health and your career in your Bazi Chart.

But all these information are static. In the next edition of Bazi 101, we’ll introduce the

time pillars, which represent the experiences, events and people that will come into your life at different times. By combining your Bazi Chart and time pillars, you can plan your life path to make the most of opportunities and reduce obstacles.

natal chart, one each for your hour, date, month and year of birth.
