BRIEFTo collect thirty similar objects and create a

body of graphic design from this taxonomy.

APPROACHAfter choosing to use my collection of vintage

maps, I decided to create sample booklets that

would show the most interesting features of

the maps.

METHODEach booklet was printed on card, with eleven

pages, each hand cut. The booklets are

bound with a split ring and were named the

Macfarlane Collection after the previous owner

of the maps. There are thirty booklets in total.

BRIEFTo create a manifesto that reflects you as a person and your graphic practice.

APPROACHI took inspiration from famous manifestos such as the Claes

Oldenburg ‘I am for an art that’. This led me to focus on particular

quotes that inspired me to create my manifesto.

METHODI initially started creating ‘I am for

design that’ posters which featured different phrases on them. However

I then adapted this after listening to Barbra Streisand’s famous song

‘Being Good Isn’t Good Enough’. This became the mantra of my manifesto.

I then moved on to creating a booklet which featured all of the points of my

manifesto, including a set of postcards with inspirational quotes on them.

A New Blood brief which focused on exploring a personal story or journey.

APPROACHI decided to explore a personal

sporting injury that I suffered during the peak of my sports career. I

wanted to recreate the emotion that accompanied the injury.

METHODI initially started experimenting with 3D typography which was

photographed on a hockey pitch. I decided however that the best way for me to recreate this injury would

be to hand paint the injury onto a model. I used acrylic to paint the leg and stencilled the lettering on top to

create an emotional response.

create a cohesive data visualisation.The presentation of this work could

be a number of static images, design, animation, or an installation.

APPROACHAfter collecting the data my Uncle

had on my family tree, I aquired information on over 3000 members of my family. I decided that the best way

of showing this data would be in the form of an app. Taking static data and

creating live data.

METHODI decided I would design an app that

would show the location of your family members at any given time, get travel

data for your personal movements and keep an up to data address book

for your family members.
