Shruti was often the first one to class, and would often stay late to help choreograph routines. Her teacher, taking note of her commitment, invited Shruti to join the teaching team. At the age of nine, Shruti started teaching Aavartan’s three- and four-year-old students. Later, Shruti also began teaching a dance class for Jeena Hope for Kids, an organization dedicated to helping children with developmental disorders.

During the school year, Shruti will help coordinate the Bollywood dance team at her high school. She’s also considering running another series of classes from January to March. Beyond that, she looks forward to graduation and moving on to college where she’ll likely major in computer science. No matter what else she does, though, dance will remain a major part of her life and how she defines herself. She may even open a professional dance studio some day.
