kingston.vic.gov.au As part of Council’s park improvement & active youth spaces strategies, funding has been allocated for the skate park redevelopment at Bicentennial Park, Chelsea Works are underway on a major makeover at Bicentennial Park to provide improved skate facilities, new youth precinct and park facilities. The updated plan incorporates the existing skate facilities and provides a different skate experience to the other skate parks in Kingston. Key elements of the project includes: New mogul skate plaza incorporating existing skate faculties to cater for different skill levels and abilities. New youth space with shade structure, outdoor DJ table, seating, drinking fountain, timber climbing structure, sand play area with turtle sculpture, and landscaping. Multi sport court featuring soccer and basketball goals and spectator seating. Retainings the existing stage and half pipe skate facilities The project is funded by Kingston City Council with support from the Victorian Government through department of Justice ($130,000) and Department of Human Services ($90,000). Construction timeframes Construction on the skate park will commence in March and be completed July 2016. The existing skate ramp will remain open during construction whenever possible and when it is safe.
