Blessed Lord, accept this burning candle as a sign of my faith and love for You.

Like this candle, I am ready to be used in your service without asking why and to what

purpose. Even as this candle, I wish to stand in Your presence and to be consumed in the light and warmth of our Love. Please hear my prayer

and, if it is Your will, grant my petition. But above all, make me loyal and faithful to You in

all circumstances of my life. Amen.

The law of the LORD is perfect, refreshing the soul; the decree of the LORD is trustworthy, giving wisdom

to the simple. — Psalm 19:8

RCIA – Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults— Have you been thinking of becoming a Catholic, or have not received all the Sacraments of Initiation, (Baptism, First Communion, and Confirmation), now is the time. On the first week of October, we will be starting an RCIA class. The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults is a process that will prepare you to receive the Sacraments of Initiation and become full members of the Catholic faith. If there are any questions, or you are interested, call Deacon Mike Babcock at 412-884-7744 X 206 and let me know you are coming. We will begin on Sunday, October 3, 2021. Classes will continue until Saturday, April 16, 2022, Easter Vigil. We will supply you with the materials you will need on October 3rd. Classes will be on Sundays at 1:00 p.m. in the Parish Office building. (That is near St. Albert Church) at 3198 Schieck St., Pittsburgh, PA 15227. Classes will last 1 hour each.

SIZE DOESN’T MATTER, FAITH DOES! I know how it can feel sitting in a CCD class or in church and hearing an adult tell you that we are called to do acts of charity. Your first thoughts may be, “I can’t possibly do anything good” or “I can’t give enough to help some else out.” Well, I am here to tell you that you CAN make a difference! All things given to God are used for good! You are special and you are loved by God. Every small act of kindness you do, brightens some-one else’s day. You can bring joy to someone anywhere you go. You may think that small acts of kindness don’t mean a lot, but to someone else they can be life changing. So, wear a smile and go do great things! -Nicholas Wolf Youth Minister

Where do you like to chill out? Is it by the beach, your room, a park or a church? For me it’s the mountains! There was a time in my life when I was a mountain leader. I took teens up the mountains! The jour-ney was some times long and the complaints were loud! I still hear their voices, “Are we there yet?” to this day. What made it all worth while for everyone was the view from the top! You could see for miles towns below and the coastal landscape. It was like a view from a postcard! It was an ah ha moment! - Thanking God for His beauty and His creation! I have always found the mountains a place where God speaks easily to me! There is no social media there! There are no TVs to distract me. Just me understanding God in the beauty of his creation! One day I observed a farmer calling to his sheep - I was amazed at how quickly they responded to the farm-ers voice. They trusted him and came running! That ex-perience made me think of Jesus telling us in Scripture, “I know my sheep and my sheep know me.” When you see a shepherd working you realize what Jesus meant by his words! We are his sheep and he is our shepherd! Another time my friend and I saw a sheep trapped in quick sand! It kept baaing as if it was crying for help - It automatically knew what to do! We rescued the sheep! Later, I reflected and realized how even sheep know to cry for help! Where do you go when you want to be at peace? Where do you go for your soul to be quiet? Who can you trust when you are in need of help? Whose voice do you recognize? The voice of Jesus, your peers or the ones on TikTok? It’s only when we are at peace we can hear God.

-Anthony Bradley Youth Minister

Opening Hymn

Psalm

Offertory Song

Gather Us In 1. Here in this place new light is streaming, now is the darkness vanished away. See in this

place our fears and our dreamings, brought here to you in the light of this day. Gather us in the lost and forsaken, gather us in the blind and the lame. Call to us now and we shall awak-en, we shall arise at the sounds of our name.

2. We are the young our lives are a myst’ry, we are the old who yearn for your face. We have been sung throughout all of hist’ry, called to be light to the whole human race. Gather us in the rich and the naughty, gather us in the proud and the strong; Give us a heart so meek and so lowly, give us the courage to enter the song.

3. Here we will take the wine and the water, here we will take the bread of new birth. Here you shall call your sons and your daughters, call us anew to be salt for the earth. Give us to drink the wine of compassion, give us to eat the bread that is you. Nourish us well, and teach us to fashion lives that are holy and hearts that are true. Marty Haugen,© 1982, GIA Publications, Inc.

Lord Whose Love In Humble Service 1. Lord whose love in humble service, bore the weight of human need. Who upon the cross forsaken, offered mercy’s perfect deed. We, your servants bring the worship, not of voice alone but heart, consecrating to your purpose, ev’ry gift that you impart. 2. Still the children wander homeless, still the hungry cry for bread. still the captives long for freedom, still in grief we mourn the dead. As you Lord, in deep compassion, healed the sick and freed the soul. Use the love your Spirit kindles, still to save and make us whole. 3. As we worship grant us vision, till your love’s revealing light, in its heights and depth and greatness, dawns upon our human sight. Making known the needs and burdens, your compassion bids us hear, stirring us to faithful service, your abundant life to share.
