ACROSS THE HALL

Short Film Feature Film

Across the hall was originally a short film which has been produced

into a mainstream feature film. The two different poster’s for the

films differ in many ways. The short film poster is very dull and

simple. This film was made on a small budget which only includes 4

characters. This shows that the poster is not very professional as it

was not made for a mainstream audience. The posters main image

is a still from a scene in the film. The scene sets up an enigma

about the film. This would appeal to film buffs and specialist

audiences. The feature film poster is more professional as it is set

for a bigger mainstream audience. This film was made on a bigger

budget making it more professional. The film has many more

characters who are all professional actors which are well known in

the film industry. The poster has a lot more to it as it shows the

main characters on the front. This will appeal to the audience as the

film may include one of their favourite stars. Also this photo shows

an image of a hall which fits into the title of the film.

Overall there are many differences between the two posters. The

differences show what film is going to be like, professional or not.

INSIDIOUS

Insidious is a typical horror film which was made

from the makers of may other popular horror films.

There are many different items on the poster which

makes it a typical horror film. The posters main

image is a young boy who has been photographed

to look ‘creepy’ and ‘scary’. The background setting

is a house with a dark sky above which could

represent the house to be haunted. The writing on

the poster is very bold and the colour red fits into

the horror genre. The poster does not include much

on it overall which could leave the film a mystery.

Insidious is a mainstream feature film which means

it includes all the right concepts.

THE VOW

The vow is a typical romance film. The film is a mainstream

feature film which has been produced for a large audience.

The posters main image is a photograph of a couple

cuddling closely. This represents the romance genre which

will catch a person’s eye that likes romance films. The

characters on the poster are popular, well know film stars

which makes it even more appealing to an audience. The

text on the poster is very simple which gets to the point .The

title of the film is in big writing and the actors names are

clearly printed. All these concepts make the poster a typical

romance film poster.

TED

Ted is a typical comedy film. This is a mainstream feature film

which has been produced to satisfy a large audience. The

poster has all the concepts which represents a comedy film.

The characters are laughing which could represent that the

film is going to be funny. Also they are holding bottles of

alcohol which can represent that they are having a good time.

The poster is very simple with a main image of the main

characters. The text also fits in with the comedy genre. It is

bouncy text with a happy colour of green. The text shows that

the film is made from a comedy producer which makes ‘family

guy’ This writing is in the green bold writing like the film title.

The text also states the main characters names which could

make the film more appealing as they are well known film

stars. All these concepts make the poster a typical comedy

film poster.

EVOLUTION

Evolution is a typical sci-fi film. It is a mainstream

feature film that is produced for a large audience.

The poster uses all the conventions to make a sci-fi

film. The poster is dark colours making it gloomy and

different. There is a picture of an abnormal alien like

creature on the floor which also fits into the sci-fi

genre. The writing used on the poster is simple and

bold in white writing which makes it stand out. Also

the poster shows the main characters in the film

which are film stars. This shows that the film is

mainstream. The film poster is professional and

follows all the conventions of a sci-fi film.
