Visitor informationVisitors driving to campus must obtain a visitor’s parking permit and display it in their vehicle. Visitors may park in any legally lined area on campus.
Permits can be obtained in the following buildings: Carver Hall, Buckingham Maintenance Center and University Police Depart-ment in the lower level of the University Store Building. Visitors to the Admissions Office, Athletic Department, Speech and Hearing Clinic, or the Reading Center may obtain permits from those departments. Free round trip shuttle service is available between the upper campus and lower campus.

UPS deliveries go to University Receiving, picked up by Mail Services, and students are notified by e-mail to pick up a package. FedEx and DHL at-tempts to deliver packages directly, but frequently leaves unsuccessful deliveries with University Mail Services.

Roy is the Director emeritus of the Corporate Institute at Bloomsburg University which he ran from 1989 to 2010 where he developed professional development training for students and corporations in the areas of team development, strategic planning, communication, conflict/resolution, coaching and creative leadership. For four years he was a consultant for the W. K. Kellogg Foundation working in the United States and East Africa. He developed leadership-training programs for its National Fellows Program. He has lectured at the National Geographic in Washington DC, in the IBM Distinguished Lecturer Series, at universities in the United States, England, and Canada and for major corporations.

Kathie Tuoni ’82 (2010 Distinguished Service Award Recipient) BSED. Special Education
Kathie is the President of International Direct Response, Inc., a Berwyn, PA Direct Marketing and Promotional Agency. Also, Chairman of the Philadelphia based non-profit The Power of Pink which raises funds for research and preventative care for a variety of women’s healthcare issues. Holds Board positions with both Brandywine Edition, a community based civics organization and the Brandywine Youth Club, serving children in Chester and Delaware counties.

September at BloomsburgGrace Coleman ‘86/’87 (2010 Distinguished Service Award Recipient) BA. English/Journalism
Grace is the Executive Director of Crisis Center North, a domestic violence counseling and educational resource center in Pittsburgh, PA. During her tenure as director, CCN has served over 24,000 victims of domestic violence. Grace previously served as Director of Project SMILE Programs in Trenton, NJ, a program which provided opportunities for at-risk youth to pursue careers in math and science. Grace also co-authored and produced a play: “The Other Side of the River,” which opened at the Andy Warhol Museum, and later aired on PBS. Grace has received many awards and even a congressional citation for her dedicated work.

Homecoming
Every fall semester the Alumni Association hosts a “Homecoming” celebration for alumni to come back to Bloomsburg and see the campus while visiting with former classmates. The Alumni Pre-game event at the Fenstemaker Alumni House is the most popular event of homecoming weekend and is always well attended.

Dr. Vincent Urick ’01 (2010 Young Alumnus of the Year) BS. Physics
Dr. Vincent J. Urick Jr. is currently employed as a Unit Head at the US Naval Research Laboratory directing and conducting research in radio-frequency photonics, a field where he has authored over 50 technical publications. In 2007, Dr. Urick received the Department of the Navy Top Scientists and Engineers of the Year Award for his role in the research and development of long-haul analog-photonic systems. In 2008, Dr. Urick joined the Department of Physics and Astronomy at George Mason University as an Adjunct Faculty Member. Dr. Urick is a member of the Optical Society of America, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Sigma Pi Sigma and Phi Kappa Phi.

Ms. Bonnie Adams ’95 (2010 Young Alumnus of the Year) 3+2 Engineering
Bonnie Adams attended Bloomsburg University as part of the 3+2 program with Penn State University. Upon graduating from Penn State with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering, she received her B.A. in Physics from Bloomsburg University. Bonnie is currently a Senior Staff Systems Engineer with Lockheed Martin Corporation. Bonnie works on an Internal Research and Development (IR&D) program and her responsibilities include data analysis, hardware and software integration, system tests, and systems engineering.

Steve is the owner of Piascik and Associates, a community recognized Regional Tax Certified Public Accounting Firm in the state of Virginia. When Steve first established Piascik and Associates, they didn’t have any clients. Through Steve’s leadership, Piascik and Associates has grown tremendously and is now recognized as the 12th
largest Certified Public Accounting Firm within the State of Virginia.

Mr. Vincent Nicastro ’87 (Director of Athletics, Villanova University) BSBA. Bus. Admin. /Acct
Vince Nicastro is currently in his 10th year as the Director of Athletics at Villanova University. In his nine seasons at the helm, Nicastro has overseen significant success in the key areas of intercollegiate athletics. Villanova finished 2008-09 ranked 56th in the NACDA Directors’ Cup, a program which recognizes a school’s across-the-board success in athletics. Under Nicastro’s stewardship, the men’s basketball program is one of just three in the nation to advance to the Sweet 16 in four of the past five seasons. In his tenure as Director, Nicastro has been instrumental in the growth of the V Club annual fund program, which achieved an unprecedented level of contributions in 2008-09. Nicastro has also overseen the planning and development of numerous major gifts for endowments and facility upgrades to benefit Villanova Athletics.
Richard DiLiberto, Jr. ’82 (Partner, Young Conaway Stargatt & Taylor, LLP) BSED. Elem. Ed.
Rick is a litigation partner in the Wilmington, Delaware law firm of Young, Conaway, Stargatt & Taylor, where he is chair of the paralegal committee, past-chair of the personal injury litigation section, and past chair of the continuing legal education committee. He is believed to be the youngest member of the Delaware Bar to win a jury verdict in excess of $1 million, which he accomplished in 1990 at age 28. He is a past President of the Delaware Trial Lawyers Association; and currently a Delaware state delegate to the American Association for Justice.
DiLiberto served in the Delaware State House of Representatives from 1992-2002.

Jason is a Hollywood based independent movie producer. In addition to making movies, Jason is a contributing author of The Independent’s Guide to Film Distributors (2009 Independent Media Publications) and he is the founder of Filmmaking Stuff, an educational resource for independent filmmakers and screenwriters.

Roongo
Bloomsburg did not have an official mascot for its sports teams until 1933, when the student body voted for the husky. Art professor and part-time animal trainer George J. Keller suggested the husky, because the breed exhibited traits essential to successful college athletic teams. (Huskies are known to be noble faithful and persistent in adverse conditions.) The first husky was owned by Keller and was one of the huskies that had gone to the South Pole with Admiral Byrd. The first mascot was named Roongo after the school colors of maroon and gold.

Dr. Elizabeth Robison is the Deputy Superintendent for the Pocono Mountain School District. Her current responsibilities include the oversight and management of the entire elementary education program in the seven elementary schools in the district which educate nearly 4,500 elementary students. Under Dr. Robison’s direction, the Pocono Mountain School District developed and implemented a full-day kindergarten program. She has been the driving force in the District on ensuring all teachers in the district use data-driven decision-making and differentiate instruction in each classroom. With a student population that speaks more than 60 languages, she has been an energetic supporter of developing a comprehensive ESL program for students and an effective ESL parent outreach program to help parents partner with District schools.

Lonka Lombardi ’98 (Store Planner & Allocation Manager, Aeropostale) BSBA. Bus. Admin. /Marketing
Lonka is a planning manager for Aeropostale. Lonka’s responsibilities include partnering with buyers to develop the appropriate seasonal assortments and partnering with planning and allocation to develop processes that generate the most revenue and highest gross margin. Lonka is also involved with an urban youth program, LEEP, which empowers youths to perform at high academic levels by building skills through law-related, mathematics and other educational programs, developing the habits necessary for lasting success and community leadership.

Fenstemaker Alumni House
In 1985 the Alumni Association purchased the Dillon property as a home for the Association and gave the house to Bloomsburg University in 1987. The house was named after Dr. Howard Fenstemaker who was the first chairperson of the Department of Foreign Languages and the President of the Alumni Association from 1962-1971. The modern Fenstemaker house took shape once an addition was completed in 2001.

The Bloomsburg University Alumni Association was founded in 1933 and its mission is to provide a link between the university and its 58,000 living alumni through communication and involvement. The Association is governed by a board of 24 directors who conduct the association’s business using an active committee structure.
