CACHIVACHEROS
" Reduce, re-use, recycle and reject is educate "
That means we want to bring environmental education an ecolo-
gical message and in turn create new methods and techniques for
reuseof solid waste and the reasons for a culture of recycling and
reuse, thereby generating a creative initiative and original re-
processing.
We are currently designing and manufacturing furniture made
ofplastic bottles (PET), focusing on sustainable design, giving a
distinct alternative to reduce deforestation and take a material
thattakes over 700 years to degrade as plastic bottles, sell at af-
fordable prices and custom designs. We are al-
so designedlaptop holder recycled material, which
have an adequate slope to"fingering" or "tipiar" with this we
avoid stress on the wrists and aproper dis-
play screens laptops. We also have a line of stationery such
as bookmarks, paper recycling, among others.
The material we use is the result of recycling from our homes,
ourneighbors, friends, and some restaurants such
as Columbus, whichgives us the bottles.
Cachivachero was created in order girls, young women and
adults promoted a real environmental education, which is direc-
ted children. Nowadays we are employed at workshops of trai-
ning on the correct use and managing of the solid residues, im-
plementing a simple formula known as the rule of them 4r's to
reduce, to re-use, to recycle and to reject
All this is performed through the development of arts and
crafts, using as main materials: plastic, paper and glass.
We have seen the need to spread a message of proper care of
our natural environment through education dynamic, origi-
nal and creative.
Our company is responsible for developing, manufacturing and
design items with reused materials, 100% original and
kind nature.

I had the opportunity of studying in Canada, through one of the studying abroad programs that UEES
offers, at King’s University College at University of Western Ontario located in London Ontario. I
learned about this chance of studying abroad through fliers in my university and what called the most
my attention was the fact that the country of destination was Canada thus I decided to apply. Before
going to Canada, I did not really know a lot about this wonderful country and I think thanks to this, my
experience was stronger than if I had researched about Canada because everything was a surprise to
me.
When I arrived at London, I was really surprised by the amount of foreign people living there. I
thought that only USA had such a cultural diversity, especially in cities such as New York, but I was
quite wrong. In my classes, I had the chance to meet people not only from Canada but from many
other places around the world such as: Iraq, Iran, South Africa, Wales, England, Germany, France,
China, Hong Kong, South Korea, Japan, United States, Colombia and such. This allowed me to hear in
classes the point of view of not only Canadian students but from other students from all over the
world.
The professors and classes were also different experiences. For instance, in my Microeconomic class,
about 25% of the class was the student responsibility and it depended on the student’s own investiga-
tions. I feel that in Canada, students have to face more responsibilities than here in Ecuador.
Even though language wasn’t really an impediment for me to enjoy my time in Canada, it was quite
interesting to learn some different idioms that Canadian use. I was also able to realize what parts are
true and what are not about the “Canadian accent”. (For instance, not all of them say “HEY!” at the
end of sentences)
Going for 1 semester exchange to Canada has been one of the best decisions I have ever made in my
life to this point. I learned many things about the world and myself because of this, I feel eternal grati-
tude towards Canada and its entire population for the great experience they allowed me to live and ab-
solutely recommend it as a study destination, for tourism and as a country that should be visited at
least once in your life.
