[airport kiosk]Project Outline
Design a airport kiosk for Toronto’s Airport
fresh & go smoothies are not your typical smoothie drink.
This self-serve smoothie bar offers a wide variety of ingredients
that include your own choice of fresh fruit, vegetables,
combinations of seeds and liquids that suits what the new
generation of travelers want. This establishment offers a healthy
choice for travelers walking by, to grab a refreshing drink. Since
airports can be busy places, the convenience of the three step
smoothie building process makes for a quick pick up to fulfill their
craving. The three simple steps are: Mix, Weigh, and Pay. The
way in which the lineup is orientated allows for easy circulation
at busy times.
“Curvy and bold” are words that describe this eye catching
display. The materials include natural cork, plastic laminate,
metal and dunn panel. These materials combined, creates
balance and unity throughout the structure. People who walk
by can’t help but lay their eyes on this unique design and form.
Its practical layout provides a quick and convenient experience for customers going to, or coming back from a flight.
Solid & Void
It is as important for a home to feel open as it is to feel
secure. An open floor plan encourages socializing,
entertaining guests and meeting the client’s requirements
while using an innovative, two foot wide Sirewall System to
create stability. The Sirewall System also complies with Rob
and Rachele’s desire for a sustainable design. Scale and
separation are demonstrated in the kitchen through the use
of brick. Balance is achieved by reusing the brick in the
living area. Flooring, wall finishes, wood accents and
millwork are repeated to implement unity as well as add
texture throughout the home. Variety is maintained through
Mid-Century furnishings and artwork, matching the client’s
interests. Rob and Rachele’s request for Japanese style was
sustained with the use of sliding interior doors which created
spaces rather than rooms. The open concept design was
further developed by using Nanawall to merge indoors with
outdoors. Importance was given to the outdoors by
inhabiting the site and cantilevering the deck over the
pond. Through careful site placement, the design utilizes
every angle of light which adds to its sustainability and
meets the client’s needs.

Home Roots
The kitchen design intent is for Dean, Barb, and
their four children, to embrace an enjoyable family
orientated space. It is inviting and maintains a
traditional theme. The goal was to create a space
that has appropriate room for the whole family to
partake in cooking and eating and yet serve a
practical use with hosting guests and doing family
activities. The additional room for counter space
and storage makes for a thematic space of
bonding and tranquility throughout the kitchen.
This provides their family a space that can portray
years of enjoyment and practicality.

Rəstik is a women's boutique intended for women
with a keen sense of style. The concept of the store and
clothing was to encourage design with a rustic look
mixed with an eclectic and urban style. All clothing items
are a resemblance to the design of the store and
provoke a certain aspiration to customers who are
looking for their own unique style. This type of design and
clothing was used to design the store with consistent
theme of color and textures. This women's boutique
creates balance and unity with the feature wall and
exterior of store being made of reclaimed wood. The
urban style is demonstrated through textured concrete
which is included in the floor and walls. Certain walls
have shades of blue and mustard yellow to add accent
colors that are appropriate in maintaining the theme of
the store. These accent colors compliment certain
displays like the wooden barrels that are modified to be
used as shelving units for clothing or the uniquely shaded
wood tables used for clothes on display. There is a
common element of colors and design throughout the
store but, there is also a divided look throughout different
parts of the store making it appealing for customers.

A Getaway For Two
The bathroom design intent was for Dean and
Barbara to embrace a spacious bathroom
providing a destination like vicinity where they can
have personal space and feel the warmth of each
other's company. The goal was to create a calm
space, which was achieved by designing this
room with accent lighting and smooth functional
colors. This room is separated from the other rooms
of the house by the traditional theme and
elements added to portray the relaxing getaway
to fulfill Dean and Barbara's lifestyle.
