For an audit to be effective, the auditor must be impartialand have extensive experience in safety managementsystems. Many employers find that the easiest way to besure of impartiality is to choose an external safety expert. And that’s where we step in.

The benefitsOne of our consultants will conduct an audit of your businessand our approach will be tailored to reflect your organisation’sactivities and risk profile.

An Aviva Risk Management Solutions Audit can either:

It is a surprising statistic that in approximately 80% ofaccidents, employee behaviour (actions or omissions) is acontributory factor. Whilst we recognise that behaviour-basedsafety approaches are not an alternative to effective healthand safety management policies, systems or procedures, when these are mature and performing well, behaviour safetyprogrammes can bring about further significantimprovements in safety performance.

If you are considering implementing a behaviour-based safetyprogramme to complement your existing health and safetysystems, we will give you honest feedback on yourorganisation’s cultural readiness to do so.

The benefitsWe have developed the following eight-stage framework forthe design and implementation of a bespoke behaviour-basedsafety programme:

• making the business case

• assessment of safety culture maturity

• steering group development

• programme design and development

• observer training and pilot project

• workforce training and implementation

• monitoring and follow-up action
