La ricerca di Oswald Mathias Ungers prende in esame la Berlino del dopoguerra: ogni quartiere è considerato come una microcittà, che contiene al suo interno la complessità di un’intera città. Nella forma dell’arcipelago l’architettura è stata trattata come uno strumento di esplorazione simultanea delle condizioni urbane. Florian Hertweck e Sébastien Marot hanno raccolto tutto il materiale, lo hanno catalogato e ripresentato, come degli archeologi, ricostruendo frammento per frammento la storia di un pensiero e dei suoi protagonisti.

Oswald Mathias Ungers’s manifesto looks at post-war Berlin: each district is treated as an entity in its own right, containing the complexity of an entire city. In the form of the archipelago, architecture has been treated as a means for the simultaneous exploration of urban conditions. Florian Hertweck and Sébastien Marot have collected all the material, catalogued and represented it, like archaeologists, reconstructing piece by piece the history of an idea and its protagonists

Si può raccontare un’altra storia di Venezia? Oppure sarebbe meglio dire può co-esistere un’interpretazione non tradizionalmente storica costruita attraverso gli elementi fondamentali dell’architettura? Per Giulia Foscari la risposta è sì. Prende così forma una narrazione intensa che ci permette di leggere la struttura urbana della città, la sua architettura in un modo nuovo. Questo libro è conseguenza del più asciutto e astratto catalogo Elements, ma allo stesso tempo è la sua diretta applicazione a una scala che non ci si aspetta.

La parola progetto è una parola dimenticata, tutti parlano di architettura, ognuno dà la sua def nizione, ma pochi mettono il progetto al centro della propria ricerca. Questo libro analizza invece modelli teorici di città e progetti che sono parte irrinunciabile della nostra storia: per farlo si avvale di una serie di testi che sono il frutto di un lavoro di riduzione di singole tesi di dottorato in forma di saggio, da parte di un gruppo di giovani architetti. La lunghezza dei testi non è legata a esigenze editoriali, la scrittura si adatta ai personaggi, lo scrittore sembra rinunciare a un’unica forma espressiva per sperimentare linguaggi. Le f gure le conosciamo tutti, gli sfondi, città, luoghi, atmosfere servono a evidenziare i caratteri dei personaggi.

Arbasino’s Italian portraits have the freshness and intimacy of photographs taken of friends and of acquaintances that he may just have met for a brief moment. The length of the texts is not bound by editorial requirements, the writing is suited to the characters and the writer seems to have renounced a single form of expression in order to experiment with languages. We are all familiar with the figures, while the backdrops, cities, places and atmospheres serve to highlight their characters

Una pubblicazione in puro stile OMA/AMO, un cofanetto che raccoglie quindici piccoli volumi, frammenti di un discorso amoroso tra il Koolhaas di Content (che seleziona frammenti) e quello di SMLXL (che li sintetizza attraverso il progetto). Gli Elementi fondamentali def niscono un punto di vista parallelo, si trasformano nelle mani degli architetti, ma nell’elenco l’ambiguità tra fondamento e re-invenzione rendono questo saggio completamente aperto alle interpretazioni.

A publication in pure OMA/AMO style, a slipcase containing fifteen slim volumes, fragments of an affectionate conversation between the Koolhaas of Content (who selects the fragments) and that of SMLXL (who sums them up through the project). The fundamental elements define a parallel point of view, and are transformed in the hands of architects, but in the list the ambiguities between foundation and re-invention make this essay completely open to interpretation

Uno dei punti fondamentali dell’architettura degli ultimi anni è esplorare i conf ni tra architettura e natura. Philip Rahm costruisce una nuova natura che, grazie alla tecnica, trova una forma propria. Una costruzione di senso perseguita con coerenza da sempre. Il libro ripercorre tutte le sperimentazioni architettoniche a scale diverse, dalle istallazioni f no al Jade Eco Park in costruzione a Taiwan (vedi Abitare 537).

One of the fundamental aspects of the architecture of recent years has been the exploration of the boundaries between architecture and nature. Philip Rahm constructs a new nature that, thanks to technology, finds a form of its own. A construction of meaning that has always been pursued with coherence. The book looks back over all his architectural experiments on different scales, from installations to the Jade Eco Park under construction in Taiwan (see Abitare 537)

Che dire, una monograf a doveva pur esserci in questa lista, e forse quella del senatore Piano era necessaria. Non mancavano libri su di lui, ma una descrizione lenta, fatta di parole, disegni e immagini ancora non era stata fatta. Sono storie quelle di Piano, racchiuse in altrettanti progetti, che raccontano il fare architettura.
