The Chamber will host its Annual Award Luncheon on Thursday, February 18th at Pathway Church. Three businesses will be named as the Chamber’s STAR Small Businesses of the Year, and Chamber and community leaders will be honored for their volunteerism and service with the Chamber’s Legacy awards.

Attendees will be entertained and enlightened by our Keynote Speaker Craig Couch with Couch & Russell Financial Group. Craig, an accomplished and humorous presenter who also serves as the Chamber’s Board of Directors Chair-Elect, will present “Leaving Your Mark.”

In its fourth year, the STAR Small Business of the Year recipients come from unique business areas, but share a common trait: a commitment to entrepreneurial, marketing and management excellence. The three categories are Rising Star (in Business 3 Years or Less); Shooting Star (1 – 10 Employees); and Shining Star (11 – 50 Employees).

The Chamber’s Legacy awards include the ATHENA Leadership Award, recognizing a local woman who exemplifies professionalism and leadership in our community. The Non-Profit of the Year recognizes a

local non-profit whose efforts deserve recognition for the good they perform for residents and the city. The Chamber Volunteer of the Year recognizes an individual who has diligently served the Chamber by fulfilling leadership roles, volunteering at events and provides support through faithful attendance at Chamber events. The Citizen of the Year recognizes an individual who is a community leader whose efforts have brought a significant improvement to our city.

The Awards luncheon also recognizes those individuals who support our organization through their work with the Ambassadors, Diplomats and Power of Heels.

“Our Awards Luncheon is one of the most enjoyable events we host each year,” says Sherri Sechrist, president of the Burleson Chamber. “First, we are always excited to recognize our Chamber members who demonstrate their commitment to our organization through their volunteerism and service. It’s exciting to recognize our members who exemplify the best of small business practices in our community. And finally, as in years past, we look forward to a stellar keynote presentation from Craig Couch that promises to be humorous and enlightening. It’s an event every Chamber member should attend.”

The Chamber is now accepting applications for the 2016 Class of the Burleson Young Executives Alliance (BYEA). This Chamber program is designed for young Burleson area professionals who work in in leadership capacities in their organizations and who are committed to personal growth, career advancement and serving the Burleson community.

The purpose of BYEA is to create an opportunity for each to gain an expanded knowledge of the community, to build relationships with other young professionals, to engage with political, civic and business leaders, and to create opportunities for a more active role of local leadership and volunteerism.

The Chamber offers one BYEA class annually with the class size limited to twelve. There will be ten sessions during 2016 on the last Wednesday of the month, comprised of eight half day and two full day meetings. The BYEA Class of 2016 will begin in March.

Ellen Larimore, Director of Communications and Marketing for the Chamber, is a graduate of the 2015 Class. “BYEA is a great opportunity for young professionals to develop business relationships with other up-and coming leaders who are the future of the City of Burleson,” she said. “Participating in the BYEA helped broaden my knowledge about our city and its leaders. It was a great opportunity and learning experience – and the sessions were informational and usually a great deal of fun!”

On Thursday, February 18 the Burleson Chamber will name the fourth round of STAR Small Business of the Year recipients at the Chamber’s Annual Awards Luncheon.

There are three STAR Award categories:
