This service manual contains technical information, which allow service personnel to understand and service this model.

Please place orders using the parts list and not the drawing reference numbers.

If the circuit is changed or modified, the information will be followed by Supplement Service Manual.

1.2. IMPORTANT NOTICE

1. When servicing other than the following part disassembling and/or replacement, the clean box which keeps dustproof

environment is required. (Satisfied clean level: Less than class 10,000 Federal Standard 209D).

2. Due to above reason, this Service Manual does not contain the following information.

a. Disassemble / Assemble procedure for other than the part showing in Fig.S1.

b. Parts list for other than the part showing in Fig.S1.

3. No adjustment is required when replacing the part mentioned on Fig.S1. But, when tighten the concerned screws, apply proper

torque mentioned on "5 Disassemble / Assemble section".

4 SERVICE INFORMATION

4.1. INITIAL (DEFAULT) STATUS OF THE LENS UNIT

This lens unit shows the following status when the Lens is detached from the Camera unit.

NOTE:

It also shows the same condition when the Camera turns off although the lens unit is attached.

[1]. ZOOM RING.....................................When the Zoom Ring is rotated, Zoom condition is changing accordingly.[Focal Length :14 - 150 mm [35mm film camera equivalent : 28 - 300mm]

[2]. FOCUS RING ...................................The Focus condition does not changed although Focus ring is rotated.

[3]. FOCUS DISTANCE INDICATOR ....The focus distance indicator does not changed although focus ring is rotated.

[Fixed at fully Infinity position.]

[4]. APERTURE RING ...........................The Aperture condition does not changed although Aperture ring is rotated.

[Fixed at fully open position.]

NOTE:

1. This lens supports contrast AF and the direction detection function.

(Capable cameras as of December 2007:DMC-L10)

4.2. CLEANING OF THE LENS SURFACE

Define the location of the dirt / dust of the lens first, whether it is outside surface of the lens or not.

If it is outside surface of the lens, order the following procedure in steps.

STEP-1. Blow off the dust certainly with Hand Blower.

STEP-2. Clean and wipe up the Lens surface by using the Lens cleaning Kit (VFK1900BK).

(Read/consult the instruction sheet being included in the Lens cleaning Kit in details.)

NOTE:

When Disassembling and Assembling for the Lens

1. To minimize the possibilities of getting the dust/dirt on the

lens surface, keep putting the lens cap other than

necessary case.

2. The parts other than listed in replacement part list are not

allowed to disassemble/assemble.

3. Other than Screw (B), use a Torque Driver (RFKZ0456)

when tighten the screws.

The Torque specification is indicated in each Figure.

As for Screw (B), use a VFK1390.

4. Take care that the dust and dirt are not entered into the

lens. In case of the dust is putted on the lens, blow off them

by airbrush.

5. Do not touch the surface of lens

6. Use lens cleaning KIT (BK) (VFK1900BK).

5.2.1. Removal of the Zoom Rubber Ring--- WHEN ASSEMBLING ----

*.Install the Zoom rubber ring so that the convex part of the

Zoom Ring comes to the Front side. (Subject Side.)

5.2.2. Removal of the Shading Frame

--- WHEN ASSEMBLING ----

*.Tighten the 3 screws (A) in numerical order.

5.2.3. Removal of the Lens Mount U

--- WHEN DISASSEMBLING / ASSEMBLING ----

*.When removing and installing the "Screw (B)", use a

VFK1390. Otherwise, Lens Mount u may be damaged.


*.When assembling, do not reuse screws (D). (Use new one.)

*.Tighten the 4 screws (C) and (D) in numerical order.

5.2.4. Removal of the Decoration Ring

--- WHEN DISASSEMBLING ----

*.Since the Decoration Ring which is stick on Lens Ring Front,

Apply the heating air using Hair dryer.

*.Peel off the Decoration ring by inserting the minus-driver

between the Decoration Ring and Lens Ring Front.

(Be careful not to damage the surface of the lens and/or Lens

Ring Front.)


*Do not use the removed (Used) Decoration Ring. Use new

one.

*.Peel off the Decoration Ring from the separator sheet.

*.Stick the Decoration Ring to the Lens Ring Front that concave

part to be toward the "X" direction.

*.Press the Decoration Ring with Name Ring Fixture
