In 1990, Race Productions NV was founded as a frame and paint shop for the local bicycle shops. In 1997, the Ridley
Bikes brand was founded. In the early beginnings, Ridley bikes were only distributed on the local market. In a few
years time, the company became market leader on the Belgian market for race bikes. In 2001, Ridley Bikes started
their own branded component line called 4ZA (pronounced forza).
The company structure was reorganized in 2002 to prepare the launch on the international market. Ridley HQ
doubled in size from 2.500m² to 5.000m². By delivering race bikes to strategic countries in Europe, Ridley Bikes
realized an international breakthrough in 2004. Thereafter, Ridley Bikes started to deliver race bikes worldwide. In
Europe, the company provides its customers with a door-to-door service, the intercontinental markets are serviced
through a distributor. In 2008, a second production site in Moldova was founded. 2010 was the year of the Ridley
move. Ridley Bikes moved to their brand new HQ of 12.000m² in Paal-Beringen.

Strong collaboration with professional teams
The partnership with our professional teams is a key factor in the development of our products. The sponsorship
and collaboration goes much further than only supplying the bikes. We have a close relationship with both riders
and mechanics to fi ne tune the development of our products. Feedback from the riders and mechanics is crucial
and taken into account at every step of development. Our teams ride our stock frames. This allows us to test our
products in extreme conditions. This way, we can offer our customers the best possible product. We call this Ridley
Partner Development Philosophy.
Our Flemish roots and sponsorship of the Belgian teams Telenet-Fidea and Sunweb-Revor explain our commitment
to the local cyclocross scene. In 2005, feedback from the riders and mechanics resulted in specifi c cyclocross features
on our frames, and the fi rst full carbon cross frame named the Ridley X-Night. In our continuous search to improve
our frames together with the riders, we’ll keep developing the X-Night so that it remains the fastest and most
advanced cyclocross frame in the peloton.
In the beginning of Ridley Bikes, we worked with local U23 road teams. This gave us ideal testing opportunities
because the riders were spending countless hours training and racing on grueling Belgian pave. In 2005, the
UCI launched the Pro Tour UCI and we signed a 4 year contract with the Belgian Lotto team (Silence-Lotto). The
collaboration with Lotto took Ridley to a new level. Not only did we win numerous titles, more importantly, we
established a good relationship with the riders and mechanics and were able to improve our bikes signifi cantly.
During this critical development timeframe, we found two distinct requirements : superior stiffness and light
weight (or ideal ratio between stiffness and weight). Our sprinters wanted a superior level of frame stiffness, and
our climbers requested a lighter frame that did not compromise the frame’s responsiveness. We quickly attained the
goals for both groups of riders in 2006. The Noah was constructed to surpass the Ridley standard for frame stiffness,
and was designed for strong sprinters like Robbie McEwen. The Helium provided additional comfort combined with
our best stiffness to weight ratio. In 2007, we set a new Ridley standard by further reducing the weight of the Helium
so that a complete bike would weigh signifi cantly less than the 6.8kg limit of the UCI.

With the production of our fi rst Noah, we found that we could build stiffer frames than the riders could handle. With
the Helium, we already had a bike lighter than the required UCI limit. Conclusion: aerodynamics was the way to go!
The goal was not only to improve the streamline of the bike, like many brands do. For us, a perfectly streamlined
bike was just the beginning! We started looking for the real aero drag problems on a bike. Therefore, we launched
the Ridley Aero Project (now known as FAST-concept). After 2 years of extensive testing in the wind tunnel and on
the track, we introduced the new Ridley Dean and Ridley Noah to the market. Every detail of these frames has been
studied thoroughly, and the bikes were equipped with F-Splitfork and F-Surface technology. In the Tour de France of
2011, we introduced the F-Brake, the fi rst “real” integrated brake (for more info see FAST-concept p 8).
In 2009 and 2010, we teamed up with the new Pro Tour Team Katusha. In 2011, Pro Team Vacansoleil-Dcm was our
partner. Both parties had the desire to race with the fastest bikes in the world. The riders were all on a Ridley Noah
and Helium for the road races, and on a Ridley Dean for the time trial.
At Ridley, we are also involved in triathlon with Belgian based U-Place Triathlon Team (Bart Aernouts, Tine Deckers,
Sofi e Goos, … ), and the Italian based Peperoncino team. Obviously our FAST concept developments play a key role
in our Tri bikes.
In 2010, our company Race Productions NV moved to a 12.000 m² high tech building. The new building is equipped
with the newest technology which allows us to build the best bikes in the world. Furthermore, we will build our
own wind tunnel within the factory setting in the Belgian headquarters, which will allow us to develop our aero
technology in the best possible circumstances.
In 2012, we signed a long term contract with WorldTour team Lotto-Belisol. This long term investment will benefi t all
parties and enable Lotto-Belisol to nurture home grown Belgian as well as international riders. With riders such as
Jurgen Van den Broeck and Andre Greipel, Lotto-Belisol are well positioned for future yellow and green jerseys. For us
at Ridley, the Lotto-Belisol project was a perfect match with our goals. A Belgian WorldTour team, with lots of Belgian
riders, all riding on a Belgian bike. For us, it can’t get any better than that! We are Belgium!

WHY DOES RIDLEY FOCUS ON AERODYNAMICS?
For many years, the goal of most bike manufacturers has been to develop a bike as light as possible. Yet in this fi eld,
most of what can be done has been done: reducing bike weight even further would endanger a rider’s safety. That’s why
UCI-rules state that the weight of a professional racing bike has to be at least 6,8 kg. So as the weight of a bike has been
fi ne tuned to its fullest potential, the bike industry had to look elsewhere to improve bike performance.
The stiffness of a bike maybe? Also in this case: what could be done, has been done. Making bikes even stiffer would
make them totally uncomfortable to ride and very hard for the rider’s body to handle.
So for us the most important feature is the speed of the bike. Our goal has always been, and still is, to develop
the fastest bike in the world. The aerodynamics of a bike have a huge impact on the speed a cyclist can obtain!
Fortunately, contrary to stiffness and weight, the fi eld of aerodynamics still offers an enormous range of possibilities
for improvement.

SHAPING THE FUTURE BY STARTING WHERE THE OTHERS STOPOur starting point: a perfectly streamlined bike, optimized on stiffness. With this perfectly streamlined bike in hand,
our engineers started looking for the real problems causing drag, the natural resistance force that is restraining
forward progress when cycling. If you are riding solo, you spend about 70% of your energy overcoming this resistance!
When testing our products in the wind tunnel, our engineers discovered 3 major issues increasing drag. In order to
make the bicycle faster we had to work on these issues.
Result: the FAST-conceptA tripod concept containing 3 major groundbreaking technologies, each working on a different aspect of the bike.
Put them together and you get the fastest bike in the world.

Most turbulence created by the bike is caused by the
wheels (and spokes). At the top of the wheels the
spokes are moving forward while colliding with the
frontal wind. This causes a major turbulence, creating
drag and slowing down the bike. With our splitfork we
guide the incoming frontal air away from the spokes
creating an airstream away from the wheels. In this
way, we reduce the interaction of the airstream with
the spokes which results in reduced turbulence and
drag.

We started our wind tunnel test with standing wheels. Then we saw that the best competitor fork had less drag
than our F-Splitfork™. Obviously such a test is Non-Signifi cant, because when you ride a bike the wheels are always
turning. So we performed a second test with the wheels turning:

Final conclusion:
Drag is increasingly lower on the F-Splitfork™ as wheel speed is increased. The F-Splitfork™ has 7.44 % less drag then
the competitor fork used in this test. The data shows the Ridley F-Splitfork™ out-performed the competitor's forks.
Setting a new industry standard by creating
a groundbreaking innovation: the First real
integrated brake !
There is of course no doubt about the necessity of a brake
on a bike! But this brake, like other bike components,
creates turbulence and causes drag, restraining the speed
a bike can obtain. That’s why it has been one of the main
goals of bike manufacturers to integrate the brakes as
much as possible.
Until now, many efforts have been made, yet no one
was able to truly integrate the brake into frame and fork.
Following years of in-depth testing, we therefore started
developing our own brakes and integrated these into the
frame and fork itself.
The result: the fi rst real integrated brake. This innovative
setup results in less drag and cleaner lines: a faster, sleeker
and better solution.
In other words: the First brake in the world
which makes you faster!
If you see the picture of this unique brake system there’s
no need to tell the aerodynamic advantage of this brake.
Normal brakes, which are obvious undesirable obstacles
in the airstream, create turbulence while the position and
shape of our speed brakes reduces the air resistance to a
very minimum. Moreover, creating the brakes like this, we
are able to lengthen the F-Splitfork™ from dropout to fork
crown, giving the bike even more of an advantage.

Track Test
Following tests are performed on a closed track, so we can compare our wind tunnel test result to a ‘riding’ test. The
rider keeps a constant speed and we measure the Watts needed to reach the speed, as well as the heart rate.

Conclusion:
On the Ridley Noah you need to pedal 14,11 Watt less than on a normal road bike to reach a speed of 40 km/h. Beside
your heart beat goes down by 2,49% which was between 3 and 4 bpm for our professional test rider.

Conclusion:
On the Ridley Noah FB with the NEW integrated brake you need to pedal 6,08 Watt less than on a normal Noah to
reach a speed of 40 km/h. Besides your heart beat goes down by 2,64% which was about 3 bpm for our professional
test rider.
Final Conclusion
With the Noah FB you save more than 20 Watt (14,11 + 6,08) compared to a normal road bike, while your heartbeat
goes down by more than 4%. This means that the track test proves our wind tunnel results, our FAST-concept bikes
make professional riders faster and conserve energy.
Our integrated brake (F-Brake™) has 5 major advantages:
Better aerodynamics:
The head tube in the front of the bike is in direct contact with the frontal wind, without a major caliper in the front
which acts like an obstacle and causes turbulence. The turbulence caused by the integrated brake arms is minimal
because of the aerodynamic shape and the position behind the fork crown. The proven advantage of the F-Splitfork™
increases, due to the fact that the split section in the fork can be increased in length from drop out to the fork crown.
Saving weight:
The average high-end alloy brake caliper weighs about 300gr. The F-Brake on the contrary is carbon and part of the
frame/fork.
Better braking performance:
The brake is part of the frame structure, and not a caliper bolted on a fork. Two parts bolted together always have
minimal movement. Our integrated brake has virtually no movement. Therefore it is very consistent in brake power
without losing “movement” power.
Less maintenance needed:
More easy to adjust: you can ‘open’ your brakes on the handlebar.

The frontal wind has to ‘pass around’ the tubes of the
bike, and has to change its direction to follow the profi le
of the bike. To make it easier for the airstream to follow
the profi le of the bike and stay close to the bike, the tubes
are designed in a droplet shape.
However, even then it’s not possible to keep the airstream
in touch with the frame at every location. At certain
locations the airstream releases the frame, creating a wake
on these locations which increases the drag. Therefore we
did extensive wind tunnel testing and used oil mapping
technology to locate the places where the wind releases
the frame. To avoid the airstream releasing from the frame
on these locations, we apply a structure surface on well

aeroWhen we reached the limitations of our frames’ stiffness and weight, we started focusing on aero dynamics. We
fused together the innovations from our existing ranges, and combined them with the water droplet tube shape.
Utilizing the natural shape of the water droplet, renowned for its aero dynamic properties, gave us the opportunity
to push the boundaries of aero frame technology.
Our goals were:
– To build the fastest bikes in the world.
– Not to compromise our high standards of stiffness, stability, and durability.
– To optimize the aerodynamics, frame structure and weight, without diminishing the performance.
– To follow the guidelines for frame construction as set out by the International Cyclist Union (UCI).
We spent months in the wind tunnel, meticulously modifying the frame shapes to achieve a smooth air fl ow. Every
tube shape is engineered to have the lowest possible drag measurement. Test results showed that there was addi-
tional turbulence around the wheels. To reduce this turbulence, we developed and patented the F-Splitfork technol-
ogy. In the fork and seat stays, the F-Splitfork draws the air away from the wheels and reduces the drag with 7,44%.
To improve the air fl ow in areas of high resistance, our engineers developed and patented F-Surface aerodynamic
paint which re-establishes the laminar fl ow. F-Surface reduces the drag on the frame by up to 4,1%, as measured
in our wind tunnel tests. Our continuous work on aerodynamics resulted in the fi rst “real” integrated brake for our
Noah. Beside aerodynamic advantages, our F-Brake offers numerous advantages and is the FIRST brake that makes

stiffness to weightSince form follows function, nature tells us that the circle is the strongest shape while using the least material.
To maximize side stiffness and stability, some areas of the round tubes had to be tapered and deformed.
Thanks to the evolution in frame construction techniques, our next step was to build a monocoque front triangle
with the same quality as our tube-to-tube frames. In our quest to reduce weight, we changed very small but impor-
tant details in the frame construction. We added a full carbon head tube to eliminate all metal sections and decrease
the weight. Hollow molding technology in the bottom bracket area enabled us to remove a large amount of excess
material, and allowed us to re-shape the tubes to maximize the lateral stiffness.
On the Helium SL frame, we use a blend of our highest strength carbon fi ber to ensure that we can keep the weight
and unwanted fl ex to a minimum. Lastly, full carbon rear dropouts with a one-piece connection to the chain stay
lower the weight by 30g per dropout. A frame from this range meets our high strength and stability standard, with
a lower total weight.

strengthIn 2000, we started the development of the fi rst Ridley carbon frame with one vision – to offer superior stiffness,
stability and handling. These values became the core formula for our strength range and are still used today. Keeping
form follows function in mind; we came to the conclusion that the diamond shape was the only shape that would
meet the demands. Ridley’s Sharp Edge Design was born. In earlier days of carbon frame production, most carbon
frames were built out of lugs and tubes. Monocoque construction had not yet become a stable and reliable process.
The tube-to-tube technology of constructing these frames allowed us to control the wall thickness of the tubes and
add reinforcements where needed. This resulted in a much stiffer and more impact resistant frame.
Our fi rst carbon frame, the Damocles, was tested by our local teams in 2001. In 2003, our professional riders rode
the frame to victory with 2 national championship wins; Geert Omloop (BE) and Roger Hammond (GBR). We were the
fi rst to introduce an oversized head tube connection between the frame and fork to increase the stability, particu-
larly under acceleration and fast descents. This is an innovation that has now become an industry standard.

women’sOur women’s range is designed to fi t you, not the other way around. Based on research from Bikefi tting.com and
feedback from our Topsport Vlaanderen - Ridley team, we adapted our race geometry for a more natural position for
women.
The end result is that our women’s geometry is much more in proportion for female riders. This provides a much
more comfortable and balanced riding position for optimal power transfer and controlled handling. In 2010, our Red
Sun team, including 2010 Swedish National Champion Emma Johansson and 2009 Belgian National Champion Ludi-
vine Henrion, has had many victories on the Asteria frame. Since 2011, Topsport Vlaanderen - Ridley is riding at the
front of the peloton with our bikes. In 2012 the Lotto-Belisol Ladies also joined Ridley. This gives us a lot of feedback
from female pro cyclists so that we can keep improving our women’s range! In 2013, we introduced the new women’s
range with a new carbon and aluminum bike, called the Liz and Liz 7005.

The 3DF crank is our newest crankset; designed to bridge the gap between the 3D+ and 3D crank. It shares 30 mm UBB (Universal BB) technology from the 3D+ crank, offering exceptional performance and compatibility with almost all bikes – irrespective of which 24 or 30 mm BB system the bike has.

is the key to success.Ridley’s Adjustable Seat Angle system allows a
rider to adjust his or her saddle placement to achieve the perfect riding
position. The ASA system consists of various integrated saddle clamps
and aero seat-posts with variable offsets. The grid below explains which
seat-angles can be obtained by simply changing the offset of your ISP
saddle clamp or aero seat-post.

The Ignite C26 frame makes perfect use of the advantages of the 26” wheel size. If you look for an agile frame with
razor sharp handling and capable of fast accelerations or if your body and riding style doesn’t fi t a 29er, the Ignite
C26 is your weapon of choice.
Ignite 29 inch
The Ignite C29 frame sets a new benchmark for 29er hard tails: the bigger wheel size offers increased stability, per-
fect grip and lets you handle technical downhill sections with confi dence. On most terrain the 29” wheels will give a
faster ride. We also advise taller people to use the Ignite C29 because the bike feels more balanced.
Ignite C26 / C29 Frame technology
The new Ignite C26 /C29 frame was created to offer a perfect blend between high pedaling effi ciency, quick handling,
enhanced comfort-, and good looks. Our engineers and designers came up with following solutions to achieve this:
• Stable Core Concept (SCC)
The “core” of the frame consists of head tube, down tube, BB and chain stays. These frame parts have been specifi -
cally designed to work together in unity to offer the highest stiffness. This will lead to an optimal power transfer and
load bearing capacity.
– Head tube: tapered design with 1-1/8” upper and 1,5” lower internal bearings
– Down tube: shape optimized for torsional rigidity and impact resistance. It tapers towards the bottom bracket for
increased stiffness
– Bottom bracket: press fi t BB30 system to create the best combination of high stiffness, low weight and lowest
Q-Factor
– Chain stays: massive Box-Section design to increase lateral stiffness
• Anti Vibration System (AVS)
One of the key features of the new Ignite Carbon is the reduced high-frequency vibrations that are transmitted
through the frame during riding . It is well known that these vibrations lead to fatigue. Our solution: controlled
vertical compliance of 3 key frame components:
– Dropouts: the specifi c shape and carbon layup work together with the seat stays.
– Seat stays: we used FEM analysis to create fl at section seat stays which offer suffi cient vertical compliance while
increasing the lateral stiffness .
– Top tube: the top tube tapers from the H/T to the S/T both vertically and horizontally. This keeps the front end stiff,
and helps to increase the overall comfort.

• Internal cable routing
The internal cable routing was specifi cally designed to improve performance, save weight and get a clean look.
By using lightweight internal liners, there is no need to run the outer housing inside the frame. People are often
surprised to learn that regular cable housing is almost entirely made of steel, so this can easily add up to 100g on a
complete bike. It’s a completely closed system so mud and dirt can’t get in. The internal liners also make changing
cables very easy – without the need for special tools and above-human patience.
We decided to run the hydraulic rear brake hose externally for easy maintenance and replacement.
• Integrated Post mount Disc
The rear brake caliper is attached to the frame on the chain stay/dropout rather than on the seat stay. This has some
big advantages: as the Box-Section chain stay is a very rigid structure, it can handle the brake load much better than
the seat stay. This increases brake performance and durability of the frame. Secondly, by removing the seat stay
mount, we can optimize the shape and lay-up of the seat stays to offer some vertical compliance (Anti Vibration
system). A third advantage is the protection of the brake caliper against outside impact.
• Tire Clearance
Our Ignite frames feature suffi cient clearance for tires up to size 2.4.
• Carbon
The Ignite C26 and C29 frames use a proprietary blend of High Modulus and High Resistance carbon fi bres. After vari-
ous computer simulations and extensive testing we strategically placed High modulus fi bres to improve the stiff-
ness and torsional rigidity. On specifi c frame sections, where a High Modulus fi bre would be too brittle, we use High
Resistance fi bres as a reinforcement, to increase the impact resistance. To save weight we decided to eliminate the
cosmetic outer carbon layer, showing only the Unidirectional fi bres underneath. The result is a hard tail frame that
distributes all loads and stresses in the best possible way to ensure optimal performance and durability.

The tapered head tube, with 1-1/8” upper and 1,5” lower bearings increases the front end stiffness for better steering
precision.
• Double pass Flat welding
This high quality welding technique offers the best combination of clean, smooth looks and increased welding
strength.
• Triple butted hydro formed down tube
The Ignite A26 and A29 frames feature our custom designed triple butted hydro formed down tube. Its shape is
clearly derived from its big brother, the Ignite Carbon. We also integrated the gusset at the connection with the
head tube to offer the necessary fork clearance. This design improves the strength and saves weight compared to a
welded gusset. It looks better too.
• Internal cable routing

cyclocrossRidley, rooted deep in the heart of Flanders, Belgium, has one important goal – to have the best cross frames in
the world. The Flemish addiction to the black art of cycling stems back to Belgium being one of the fi rst countries
to host its own national championship. This fervor continues to grow in Flanders with weekly attendance to cross
races in the thousands, culminating in over 60000 people attending the 2012 WC cyclocross in Koksijde. Since 2002,
Ridley riders have won 7 world championships and many national championships – Belgian, Dutch, American, Brit-
ish and Czech to name a few. The countless titles and victories are the benefi ts of a close partnership with all of our
champions.
We were the fi rst to introduce a full carbon cross frame, the fi rst to have integrated seat posts, the fi rst to introduce
1-1/8 1-1/2 tapered head tubes, and now we are leading the way in using disc brakes in our cross range. As standard,
all of our models feature cross-specifi c geometry for world-class handling, top routed cables for a cable-free grip on
the down tube, and fl at shoulder spots for easy carrying. Our engineers are continually working with our pro riders to
ensure we have the best cross range in the world. Cyclocross is Flanders, cyclocross is Belgium, we are Belgium. This is
Ridley. The 4za Oryx fork, victor of countless world cup, superprestige and world championship races, takes its herit-
age from the Python fork and is completely overhauled since 2010. A massive 1-1/8 1-1/2 tapered fork crown eliminates
front brake chatter. Oversized fork legs make the Oryx one of the most laterally stiff fork ever constructed. To shed
off excess dirt, the Oryx has a specially constructed shape that reduces the surface areas where mud exposure is high.
