We all had a great time in Tampa, Florida for our Grand Council sessions. The hotel was beautiful and their people were very gracious to all who came and spent time in their beautiful hotel. The employees were very friendly and made life easy for us.

We celebrated two birthdays while we were there. Our own Karen MacDougall and Kathy Kelley had their birthdays during the week, we had two birthday cakes, one for each of them. The cakes weren’t too bad. We had a gathering for their big days in my room and then they took me out for dinner. That week was very busy. Our Grand High Priestess Lady Jan Hiebert will be here for our visit in September. Her plan is to visit Tucson first, September 16 and 17th than she’ll arrive in Phoenix, probably the evening of the 17th or early morning of the 18th, for Sphinx Court’s OV on the 18th and then she’ll be going thru all the books on the 19th. So units please plan on having your books ready for the Grand High to check them all. After that, she’ll return to Tucson for WAOUM. Ladies, we’ll be having our meeting upstairs, so be prepared for tight quarters as the big room is being used.

Thanks to all you gener-ous units and members that donated to my Special Project, El Zaribah Hospital Transportation Fund. Keep them coming. However, now is a good time to start collecting the underwear items for boys and girls -

all sizes. They should be white, and I know for undies that is hard, especially for the girls. They also need socks, all sizes, lap robes, new stuffed toys with tags still attached and I sometimes donate cute clips and bows for the girls’ hair. The hospi-tals also need McDonald’s gift cards, ($5.00), Walmart gift cards, and any other you might think of.

I had a great time at Grand Council seeing my counterparts, visiting with my Grand High Priestess & learn-ing some new things at the breakout sessions. One session was on fund raising where we shared what our

courts did. People were impressed with the success of our carnival & dinner mystery theater. I got some fresh ideas as well. More on that next year.

Our Western Area Organized Unit Meet is September 19, 20 & 21 in Tucson, AZ. If you haven't gotten a packet yet, please contact your Unit head or any of us on the line. We always have a fantastic time at this event, so if you've never attended, this year's the time to go. It's only down the road a piece & carpooling sounds like it could be fun.

It’s always fun to meet up with old friends and spend some quality time with our ladies that attend. I want to thank the group for making my birthday memorable this year!

Summer is upon us and before we get back to work in September I have planned a Membership Tea for Sunday, August 18th. This is a little early this year, but it will allow us to vote on petitions at our early September Court meeting. The Tea will start at 2pm, so please plan to arrive by 1:30 if you are bringing food from your Unit. The Tea will be held at the home of Mimi Bohlman at 2230 E. Whitten St., Chandler, AZ 85225.

You have one more job this summer… please think of some ladies that would be an asset to Sphinx Court. Then send me their names, addresses, and phone numbers. I’ll be sending out invitations to the Membership Tea the last week of July. If everyone sends me just ONE name, we should have a great turn out!

of times a month to practice our drills. Thanks to Lady Lynn for getting this organized. We’ve had such a great year and have so many new members that we need to learn to do some new stuff. It’s so exciting and we’re so happy with how our Unit has grown. And I want to remind all of our readers that we’ve got plenty of room for YOU to join the Patrol as well!

Ladies, you’ll see in this Chatter that lots of stuff will be going on throughout the summer – I hope you can join in and support the other groups, attend the tea, find new members to join the Court and our Unit, AND find some time to rest and regroup for the fall.
