I decided to Shave in support of my friend Blake Shelly and in honour of my grandmother. It felt really good to be able to help people with cancer.

– Jacob White, Player and Shaver

It was a very touching event and I am proud that I could be part of it. I’m very proud of my two boys for making the decision to do this, and I’m proud of my nephew and the five other people who also participated.

2014 Hockey NL Shave Facts

• 12 Shaves were held across 10 associations

• 149 players and supporters shed their flow

• $52,000 raised in 5 months!

• 26 young adults with cancer had their lives changed thanks to Hockey NL

Change your TeamThe Shave for the Brave is an incredible opportunity for participants to break barriers across associations while building solidarity. At Shaves we’ve witnessed players become more passionate, more spirited, and more dedicated to their team while showing compassion, care, and unity.

Playing hockey teaches kids about teamwork, hard work, and the value of dedication. Participating in the Shave for the Brave gives kids a sense of ‘pride.’ I’ve seen it, and it’s powerful.

– Jack Lee, President of Hockey NL
