When you receive the Appeal mailing this week, please take the time to read the information thoroughly, how you can help and give prayerful consideration when contemplating your sacrificial gift to the campaign. Appeal donations provide funds for the pastoral, educational and charitable ministries of the Diocese of Bridgeport. Thank you and God Bless you. DEFENDING OUR RELIGIOUS LIBERTY-We are called to advocate for the most fundamental of human goods and rights, in particular, the right to life and the right not only to profess our faith, but to live it out. We are advocating for the freedom to “be Catholic,” to go about our lives serving the needs of our brothers and sisters, regardless of their race, creed, or religion, not because they are Catholic but because we are Catholic. If you haven’t done so already, please voice your opposition to the federal health care mandate by calling U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services Sylvia Mathews Burwell at 202-205-5445, and your elected representatives. Let them know that the mandate is in violation of our First Amendment right to religious freedom.
