A FEW WORDS FROM OUR PASTOR
There is absolutely no one who can say there is nothing going on at Saint Saviour Parish! There are so
many things happening these days that it is hard to keep up with and remember where everything is taking
place. Last weekend we had a beautiful celebration of the Blessing of Animals in front of the Rectory that was
well attended and every single pet in attendance was so well behaved! I don’t think I’ve ever experienced such
a tranquil and peaceful Blessing of Animals in my almost 22 years of priesthood. The spirit of Saint Francis of
Assisi was definitely present among us all last Sunday. We had lots of adorable dogs, a few cats, a baby kitten
and even a cute bunny rabbit. I sincerely thank everyone who came out and joined us for this special blessing.
We even had a number of people present who don’t have any pets but came just of be a part of such a special
moment. We are so glad you chose to join us!
The next two Mondays of this month have been set aside for Parent Meetings for ALL parents who have
a child preparing to receive their Sacraments this year here at Saint Saviour Church. On Monday, October 15,
we will have our meeting with ALL parents whose children will be receiving the Sacraments of First Penance
and First Holy Communion next spring. On Monday, October 22, we will be meeting with ALL parents whose
children will be receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation in the spring. Each of these meeting will begin at
7:00 p.m. in Church. THESE SACRAMENT MEETINGS ARE MANDATORY—which means the parents
MUST attend. There are no make-up meetings either. Both of these meeting for parents will be conducted by
Father Kevin, Sister Pat and myself. The purpose of these meetings is to explain the theological significance of
these sacraments your children are going to receive; to remind our parents what will be expected of those
children preparing to receive their Sacraments (weekly attendance at Mass; a retreat; community service;
proper attire to wear when receiving the sacraments; the importance of handing in all necessary paperwork;
practices; sponsor information, etc.) PLEASE make every effort to attend the appropriate meeting for your
child. Everything you want to know about your child receiving their sacraments but were afraid to ask will be
addressed at each of these meetings. If you owe Sister Pat any paperwork whatsoever, PLEASE RETURN IT
ONLY TO SISTER PAT AT THE RECTORY at your earliest convenience and before the meeting if possible!!
On Sunday, October 28, our parish will be welcoming back the Glenn Mohr Chorale who will be
sharing with us their production of “DEEP RIVER”. Be sure to check out the flyer in the pages of this week’s
parish bulletin. This musical performance celebrates America’s Songs of Faith and the people and stories
behind these American Inspirational songs. ALL the members of our parish family are invited to attend.
Admission is FREE and the performance will begin at 2:30 p.m. in our church.
Please remember in your prayers all those persons in the Florida panhandle who experienced
that catastrophic Hurricane Michael on Wednesday afternoon. The images on television were horrific. Many
people lost everything. As soon as Bishop DiMarzio authorizes a special collection for the people of this
hurricane, we will certainly take one up here at Saint Saviour to assist in the recovery and rebuilding efforts.
Finally, TODAY we will have our monthly Maintenance and Repair collection following the
distribution of Holy Communion. If you handed in your envelope last weekend, no worries, we have it.
For those of you who chose to wait, envelopes are available at the ends of each of your pews. Please be as
generous as you always are.
Have a great week everyone.

together for Mass at 8:30 a.m. in church and then we
will move to the Parish Hall. If you with to continue

CALLING ALL PARISHIONERS!!
Our parish will have a Flea market and Christmas
Fair on Sunday, December 2nd from 10 a.m. to
6:30 p.m. in the Parish Hall. This event is a quick
and easy fundraiser for the parish. In addition to
the rental of tables to vendors, we will also have a
church table that will feature donated items for sale
to benefit the parish. If you have any NEW items
at home, perhaps a gift you received but have no
use for/or/something you purchased but never used,
please consider donating that item for the church
table. We are accepting all NEW items with the
exception of clothes and books. No clothes or
books please! Just bring these items to the Rectory
during office hours and we will make them availa-
ble for sale on December 2nd. With your help and
generosity, this can be a successful fundraiser
for our parish. Also, feel free to take a Flea
Market and Christmas Fair Flyer available at the
doors of the church and spread the word throughout
the neighborhood about this event!
50/50 ENVELOPES
Effective immediately, we are changing the way our
monthly 50/50 is conducted. In the past, the only
people who could participate were those persons who
received monthy envelopes and the drawing was held
in the middle of the month. Sadly, the same 18 people
participated each month. NO MORE. Now we are
opening up the montly 50/50 Drawing to the entire
parish. Purple 50/50 envelopes are available at the
front doors to the church. Simply take an envelope (or
as many envelopes as you’d like), fill them out, place
your $10.00 offering in each envelope and then drop
them in the Sunday offering collection. We will collect
them throughout the month and on the last day of each
month, we will have the drawing in the Rectory,
announce the winner, and then split the total amount
collected 50/50—50% for the parish and 50% for the
lucky winner. Remember the old expression, you have
to be in it to win it, so take a chance (and a purple
50/50 envelope) and try your luck. The more people
who participate, the greater the prize money for both
the parish and the lucky winner!

PRAYERS FOR HEALING IN THE CHURCH
In light of the recent news from Pennsylvania, the
Diocese of Brooklyn and from many parts of the
world that has brought further scandal to the church,
our rosary group from the 8:30 a.m. Daily Mass will
pray the rosary each Tuesday after Mass for the
safety of young people and for healing in the church
and among the faithful. Please join them in offering
prayers for all who have been affected or suffer as a
result of this scandal.
On All Souls Day we honor all of our deceased loved ones in a special way. Here at St. Saviour Church we will be remembering your deceased loved
ones both on this day with the celebration of Holy Mass (Thursday, November 2
nd) and at all of the Masses throughout the month of November. In that spirit, we invite you to inscribe the names of those you wish for us to remember and pray for on All Souls Day and during the Masses throughout the month of November on the special All Souls
Remembrance Envelopes found in the vestibule of the Church and near the side doors. Please place your envelopes in the collection basket or bring them to the Parish Office before November 1
