4  Students will view paintings as they learn about tints and shades. Students will demonstrate their  understanding as they create tints and shades in their own original artwork.  

1.2 Describe how artists use tints and shades in painting.  

Complementary Colors- Two colors on opposite sides of the color wheel. 

*When complementary colors are placed  next to each other  

they both appear brighter.  Hue- Pure Color. The primary and secondary colors (Red, Yellow, Blue, Orange, Green, Purple)  Tint- A mixture of pure color with white.    Tone- A mixture of pure color with only Gray.  Shade- A mixture of pure color with black

5  Students will create the illusion of space as they  use one-perspective skills to depict a real or imaginary aquarium scene.  

2.1- Use one-point perspective to create the illusion of space.  VA 2.6- Use perspective in an original work of art to create a real or imaginary scene. 

 

One Point Perspective- A way to show three dimensional objects on a two dimensional surface.  Horizon Line- The line at which the sky meets land or water. It is the actual height of the viewer’s eye.  (Eye level).  Vanishing Point- The appearance of a point on the horizon line where lines appear to converge or meet. Objects look smaller as they get
