ConciergeMeets, the need for a fan coil unit that is quick and easy to install, for simple ceiling void co-ordination.

The Dunham-Bush® Concierge fan coil unit has been developed specifically for the hotel applications and provides an integrated low cost solution.

The Concierge dose not compromise room aesthetics, combining generous integral discharge attenuation offering low noise operation for accommodation areas.

ControlA state of the art control package allows integration with the Building Management System (BMS), requiring no more than a key press from reception to bring the room temperature to an ideal comfort level.

The standard control package includes end-user interface, with additional inputs for door and window contacts, light switches, and incorporates a DDC facility to the network.

Setback or shutdown modes provide economical operation and the microprocessor controller exercises the valves during idle periods to ensure reliability.

AccessThe access panel on the Concierge forms the ceiling beneath the unit, all of the fittings, e.g. spigots, that protrude beyond the extremities of the access frame can be removed from within the chassis in order that the entire unit may be removed and refitted without the need to damage the surrounding ceiling.

Build qualityOur state of the art sheet manufacturing facility guarantees that every Concierge produced will perform at 100% of its design capability, through a rigorous quality inspection process.

Dunham-Bush Ltd operates a quality control system and is a company of assessed capability to BS EN ISO 9001 : 2008

Air Filters The filter mat shall be formed form synthetic polyester fibres, with a Eurovent rating of G2(EU2) to BS EN 779, a dust holding capacity of 450g/m2 and fire rated to class F1 to DN 53 438. The washable media shall be thermally bonded over a copper coated mild steel wire frame. Filters shall be easily removable from below the unit through the hinged access panel without the need to remove any additional panel work.

Fan/Motor Assemblies The fan/motor assemblies shall be high quality, low noise, combined external rotor motor type, both statically and dynamically balanced. Fans shall be double inlet, double width, direct drive, centrifugal type with low noise, forward curved galvanised steel impellers housed in galvanised steel scrolls. Motors shall be high efficiency, external rotor type with permanent split capacitors. Bearings shall be sealed for life, maintenance free ball race type with a minimum life expectancy of 50,000 hours under normal operating conditions. Overload protection shall be by way of auto resetting thermal contactors incorporated into the windings. Insulation shall be to Class ’B’ with the enclosure rated to IP44. An electrical supply of 230/240V AC, 50Hz, 1phase shall be required for the operation of the fans. Each Fan/motor assembly shall be separately mounted onto a ‘floating’ bulkhead to isolate noise resonation from the rest of the unit and facilitate the removal of an individual fan/motor assembly for replacement. Alternatively, the entire ‘floating’ bulkhead can be easily removed from the unit for more major work to be carried out.

Fan Motor Speed Control Speed control shall be effected by means of a multi-tapped auto-transformer with 15 outputs, plus an isolated 24V AC secondary output, rated to 30VA, for operation of a controls package. The transformer shall be pre-wired to the controller, which provides an automatic selection from three main speeds. Fine adjustment of the three speeds for accurate commissioning shall be via additional low voltage tappings on the transformer. Speed control transformers shall be fitted within a ventilated controls enclosure mounted within the chassis.

Controls Enclosure Each unit shall be provided with a well-ventilated controls enclosure, which slides below ceiling level for ease of access. The controls enclosure shall be accessible via a single quarter turn, push fit, quick release fastener. The enclosure shall contain a terminal block, auto transformer, on/off switch, and mains fuse holder, complete with a spare fuse, whilst also providing space to accommodate most available temperature controllers along with any associated relays, if required. The control box shall be provided with a 1m flying lead for connection to an adjacent fused spur.

Temperature Controls A wide variety of controls packages are available, either supplied and fitted by Dunham-Bush, or ‘free-issued’ to Dunham-Bush for factory fitting. Where specified temperature controls shall be provided and shall comprise of modulating 4 port valves and actuators acting in conjunction with a electronic temperature controller wired to a return air or room sensor.

Unit Chassis Chassis shall be of a riveted construction manufactured from minimum thickness of 1.2mm galvanised steel. Stiffeners and strengthening folds shall be used to form a solid robust structure. Mounting holes, for either M6 or M10 drop rods, or Gripple wire, are provided for installation whilst a combination of panel design and fillet radii shall minimises sharp edges. Fan/motor assemblies shall be mounted on a 1.6mm thick galvanised steel ‘floating’ bulkhead, isolated from the case of the unit to minimise transmission noise.

Discharge (Supply Air) Attenuator A 400mm long discharge attenuator, acoustically insulated with glass cloth faced 60kg/m3 mineral wool slabs, shall form an integral part of the unit chassis. Air shall be discharged via a single rectangular spigot, the size of which can be tailored to suit customer requirements, for connection to the proposed discharge grille.

Access Access to all serviceable items, namely filters, condensate tray, coil, and fan/motor assemblies for inspection and maintenance shall be via a single, hinged, insulated panel, secured with key operated quarter turn locks. The panel shall form a positive airtight seal against the main unit chassis and shall be painted to any specified RAL of BS colour as it is intended that it shall form the ceiling beneath the unit.

Insulation Unit chassis and panel work shall be both thermally and acoustically insulated with 95kg/m3, CFC and HFC free, Class ‘O’ open cell expanded foam insulation, having a maximum thermal conductivity of 0.047W/mK, fully complying with London Borough and CAA flammability and toxicity requirements. The adhesive is a modified acrylic, light and age resistant synthetic resin with high temperature tolerance.

Coils A single coil block divided into two sections shall provide both cooling and heating. The coil shall be constructed from 3/8” seamless copper tube mechanically expanded into aluminium fins and brazed into copper headers. Fins shall have die formed collars to provide maximum contact and optimum heat transfer. The coil shall be circuited to provide low hydraulic resistance under normal operating conditions whilst being designed to prevent air locks, ensuring positive venting and draining via easily accessible slotted hexagonal vent and drain plugs. The coil shall terminate with 15mm copper tails, spaced at 40mm centres to accept most standard 4-port valves. The tails shall be contained within a plate providing sufficient support for both valves and adjoining pipework. Coils shall be tested by dry air under water to 30bar.

Condensate Tray The single piece condensate tray shall be formed from a 1.2mm thick stainless steel and mounted to provide a positive fall in two directions, ensuring the free flow of condensate to the copper end connection of 15mm outer diameter. Condensate shall be removed with a condensate pump. The condensate tray shall be externally insulated with 3mm thick Class ‘O’ closed cell thermal insulation.

Specification The Concierge fan coil unit shall be manufactured by Dunham-Bush Limited. Units shall be configured to achieve the specified performance whilst operating at the specified design parameters. Concierge units are of a draw through design and comprise of a washable air filter, dual purpose coil with separate connections for heating and cooling, stainless steel condensate tray, external rotor motor powered fans, integral discharge attenuator and easy access controls enclosure.
